JOB PROFILE

JOB PURPOSE

To manage the receipt and disbursement of funds and maintaining accurate financial records

Key Accountabilities:

1. Collect funds and make various payments as per the authorization and approval of Budget
Holders and in accordance with Save the Children’s financial management policy.
2. Ensure that all collections and payments are done against serially pre-numbered cash
receipt and cash payment vouchers.
3. Maintain optimum cash balances and advises the Finance Officer (Treasury) for cash
replenishment
4. Maintain a cash book and perform daily cash reconciliation for all currencies
5. Carry out weekly and monthly cash counts with senior managers
6. Ensuring prior approval from relevant senior managers, send cash to all program offices
(cash replenishment and other requests) by the approved means and ensures receipt of
remittances.
7. Maintain balances on the cheque stub and/or an electronic bank balances monitoring
report and advises Finance Officer (Treasury) when cash gets to the minimum levels
8. Assist Finance Officer/Treasury with information on cash forecasts
9. Responsible to despatch all cash transfers to local CBOs and ensure receipt of
remittances.
10. Prepare salary advances for verification by the Finance Officer (Treasury/ Payroll) and the

CD approval
11. Ensure proper documentation and filing of all cash and bank documents ensuring good
audit trail.
12. Prepare recharge journals for posting.
13. Perform any other relevant duties related to finance assigned by the supervisor
14. Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to health
and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.
15.Carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects Save the Children's
commitment to safeguarding children in accordance the Child Protection Policy.
16. A commitment to children’s rights, children’s participation and non-discrimination.
17. Any other tasks assigned.

Person specification (Essential requirements)

• Bachelor's degree or LCCI or related accounting qualifications


• Minimum 3 years proven work experience in cash management within a busy working
environment such as financial institutes or INGOs
• Computer skills especially in Ms Excel, spread sheets and Ms Word
• High level of integrity and ability to work as part of a professional team

• Ability to work under high pressure to meet tight deadlines

• . Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.

Child Protection:

The responsibility of the post may require the post-holder to have regular contact with children or
young people and, in the overseas context all posts are considered to be level 3 posts in view of
potential situations which may allow expatriates unsupervised access to vulnerable children and
young people.
