Freeman, Richard B. The Facts about the Declining Economic Value of College. The Journal

1.Relevancy: This journal provides information about what are the facts about the declining
economic value of college and this is relating with my topic because is important to understand
the details about the declining in this area and the importance of this. After read this article I will
be able to understand more information about the college degree and this could help me also to
expand my knowledge in everything related with college.

2.Accuracy: This journal was writing by Richard B. Freeman, and maybe I will use this like a
primary and the information here are presented as a personal opinion of the author, and no, I did
not saw any grammatical errors in his writing.

3.Currency: This source was writing more than five years old, in 1980 so around 37 years ago. I
dont think this information could had to many changes but, of course this maybe could had a
little modifications because As time passes, more information is found and shared. But I think his
opinion is very important and helps.

4. Authority: The author Richard Freeman has written around 18 books and he edited twenty-
nine books and published around 350 articles, including global labor standards. He is an
economist and also, he is an instructor of Economics in Harvard University and was a Co-
Director of the Labor and Work Life Program in Harvard Law School.

5.Purpuse: The purpose of this journal article is to teach to the readers why is so important the
facts about the declining value of college and also what the basic data show about this. I think
this journal is for college level.

6.Rating: I could rate this 5 of 5 because in my personal opinion the quality is really good and
also the author is someone who have too much knowledge in this area so I can trust in what he
said because he can proof we understand what he is talking about.

1.Relevancy: Yes, this source is very related with my topic because Murray explain his point of
view about the college degree and he also provide information about different profession
degrees. This source is important to include in my paper because the information I read here
could help me to understand another point of view about college degree.
2.Accuracy: I did not find any mistakes in the author grammar, but maybe the author need to
separate better the introduction and the main body. This journal was writing by Nicholas Murray
and I find his words authentic and interesting to include in assignments about the college
degrees.
3. Currency: This journal was writing in 1917, but I think his opinion and his theory still make
sense until now because some things never change so far.
4.Authority: the author of this journal, called Nicholas Murray Butler was a philosopher in
America he was an educator and also a diplomat. He was president of The Columbia University,
also president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and last but not less he was a
recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
5.Purpose: I think the purpose of this is maybe to explain to people who are interested in this
area what is the college degree and the importance to get one. Because many people dont care or
just study hard to get one just because their parents want but they dont know the real benefits
they could get just with this piece of paper.
6: Rating: I will say this journal deserves 4 of 5, the information I read here is interesting but
like I said before he need to separate better the introduction and the main body. This source can
help me a lot with my assignment related with degrees.

1. Relevancy: This book provides information about if the college degree is really important
or not. Yes, is definitely related with my topic because can help me to know more about if
is really important to get the degree or if is not important, is someone successful opinion
so I found trustworthy what the authors said.
2. Accuracy: I didnt find any error in the author writing and also the authors related very
well each main point.

3. Currency: This journal was being published around 89 years ago, in March 1928. Maybe
this could change until now because I think before, many years ago, the companies dont
pay too much attention in the degree they were more focused in their experiences for the
job, and now Is not just important to get a degree to get a Hight salary, the workers need
masters and doctors degrees.

4. Authority: Here are two authors, called Taylor and Francis. They created a company and
that company publishes over 800 journals and over 1,800 new books each year according
with Jstor.org.

5. Purpose: The purpose of this journal is to create awareness to the students who are
thinking the good facts about go to college and encourage them to study what they really
want to be successful.

6. Rating: I enjoy reading this journal. I will say this can get 5 of 5 points. Excellent quality
and the authors know how catch the audience attention.

1. Relevancy: Yes, this topic is related with my topic because the master is the second steep
after get a college degree and people who are in the way to get the college degree maybe
can found this interesting because is almost the same thing, of course more advance but
both have almost the same steps.

2. Accuracy: The information I found here was published from the database called
Jstor.org. I didnt found any grammatical errors here. But maybe the author could
improve this and try to do something less long so that will be more fun and less boring to
read. Just explain in a couple of words what he try to explain instead to make more
longer.

3. Currency: This book provides information published in October, 2000. That means this
was writing 17 years ago. Could change many things but, In my opinion the author
opinion still important.

4. Authority: The author of this book is Michael J. Giordano. He was the Director in the
Program called Modern Languages, also we wrote many books.

5. Purpose: The purpose of this is propose solutions by the author according with his own
experience in this since he went to college.

6. Rating: I will rating this book 5 of 5 points, because the author include many good
examples to help the readers to understand what he try to say and he also share his own
experience so that makes the book more trustworthy.

information just with a key word with the searching botton.

3. Currency: This social media has around 13 years old. I started to use in 2009 and I was
fascinated with this social network. Facebook was founded in 2004. Every second
something new is writing by someone for someone for any part of the world.

4. Authority: The creator of Facebook is Mark Zuckerberg. He was student at Harvard


University. His occupation is Internet entrepreneur and Computer programmer. Hi born in
California and now he is 33 years old.

5. Purpose: The purpose is to make people feel connected despite distance or other
obstacles. Facebook is really popular because we can follow an event and see it in direct,
the retransmission of talks to which very few people. Also, has access to the exchange of
views during an event in which people attend as public, share photos or states with our
friends and we are able to send private messages.

6. Rating: I think this social media have bad and good parts like everything in the life, but
definitely I will rate this 5 of 5 because is my favorite social media. Is so useful
especially for people like me who are far from home and want to stay connected with
friends and family or just stay informed about what happen around the world. The best
part of this is that is free.

years ago. So in my opinion the information still relevant.

4. Authority: The author is O'Sullivan, A., Sheffrin. I didnt find information about this
author, but I believe the words he uses because he wrote a famous book.

5. Purpose: The purpose is too teaching students who are or will study the economics
major. Also, why is so important or why not go to college. The benefits and the
disadvantages about the college decree.

6. Rating: 5 of 5 because the book is really good, the authors are not very famous because
was hard to find information on internet but I think is good because many college use this
book for study.

2. Accuracy: I think the source grammar is fine, free of errors and the information I found
here was published from the database called ABI/INFORM

3. Currency: this information was written in Jul 20, 2016, just one year ago so I think the
information still relevant.

4. Authority: I didnt find any information about the author, but the information came from
a college called Rasmussen College. This college is a private college and Public at 24
campuses in Minnesota, Illinois, North Dakota, Florida, Wisconsin and Kansas.

5. Purpose: The purpose of this source is to teach students how importance is to have a
college degree and the benefits they could have and the economic impact they could find.

6. Rating: I will rate this source 5 of 5, because I did not find any grammatical error or any
mistakes in the author information.

1. Relevancy: Is related with my topic, because the author Mooney,


Talk about colleges degrees and he said this means not professional degrees.

2. Accuracy: the information is free of grammatical errors and I found this source in the
data base called Jstor and the citation I found also in the same database, The
University of Chicago Press shared this information and authorization to Jstor to share
with students.

3. Currency: This information was written in March of 1899, but Im agree with his
thoughts.

4. Authority: The author is W. D. Mooney, he is a research seismologist and geophysicist at


the United States Geological Survey, Menlo Park, CA. He was Chief of the USGS
Branch of Seismology from 1994 to 1997 and he is 66 years old now.

5. Purpose: The purpose of this article is to teach the audience that any degree is important
and he give an example and he said that art degree is also important the spirit of man.
We would make it an article of faith that the classics shall never be eliminated from the
arts degree (W. D. Mooney).

6. Rating: 5 of 5, I think this source is fine, is old information but still interesting and
helpful.

2. Accuracy: I did not find any grammatical mistakes here, so I think the author do a nice
journal for the audience.

3. Currency: This article was written in 2016, still new so, I think the information here still
relevant.

4. Authority: The page is called Best College Values, they help students to find resources
they need. They stay up to date with authorities in the education field to provide current
data, news, and trends.

5. Purpose: The purpose is to explain people why is important to send their kids to college
or for encourage students to get that paper.

6. Rating: five of five, I like this article because I found this page helpful and the author
explains in a very simple way his point of view.

2. Accuracy: I found the information in the data base, called ABI/INFORM Collection and
the citation came from this database.

3. Currency: The information here was written in Aug 29, 2012, is not old I, mean just five
years until now, in my opinion this information still relevant.

4. Authority: The article doesnt include the name of the author, but include the page name
which is Newstex from the data base called ABI/INFORM Collection. Newstex is a
blog with the purpose of teach people.

5. Purpose: teach and explain why is important go to college and the benefits to go and
disadvantages in case the person dont go to college.

6. Rating: I think the author did a good job, I will rate this source 5 of 5.
