Marketing Activities of NGO
'Marketing' was 'Taboo' word for Non Government Organizations few years back.
But now things have changed. Branding and Advertising has became crucial for the
survival of NGOs. Like a necessary evil the 'NGO Marketing' is evolving with the
increase in mushrooming NGOs everywhere in India.
Marketing becomes important so as to make Donors aware of the good social work
which an NGO is doing for the Society. It helps attract more donations which can
be used for more projects and activities for the beneficiaries.
Marketing also helps to spread awareness about the social cause of the NGO and
hence attract more non-paid basis, self-motivated people to work as Volunteers.
7 Ps of NGO sector:
PRICE: NGOs need 'funds' for implementing their programs, carry out the
projects; there is a cost associated with almost all the activities carried out by an
NGO. Hence the allocation of amount generated through donation is planned for
the cost of execution of projects and vice verse.
PLACE: NGOs operate through their Offices and Centers. They can set-up their
shops/canopy of the products which are made by their beneficiaries like
handicrafts, arts, greetings, drawings etc.
At Nivara :
Here there are few activities which are worked upon as a part of marketing
those are as follows
Just like any business house or academic institute, NGOs can also take advantage
of social media to create awareness amongst relevant stakeholders about their
activities.
Every blog post, image, video, or comment you share is a chance for
someone to react, and every reaction could lead to a site visit, and eventually
a conversion. That is posting about NGOs work on these sites help to reach
out to a ton of users. These users can be users who are already aware of its
work or they could also be potentially be new users. These new users are
reached out and made aware of work by posting on these sites.
Giving prompt response gets volunteer to get in touch. If the user has any
feedback regarding its work, volunteering or content social media is an
excellent place for users to get in touch with NGO. Also its prompt action
and active response to these feedbacks are viewable to other users. Hence
they also are made aware of its response to feedback
Social media is also a major plausible cause of traffic generator for NGOs
actual site. When it share blog posts, videos and other content from website,
it give audience a reason to click through and visit site. Once there, NGO
have the opportunity to inspire those visitors to take action by recruiting
volunteers, accepting donations etc

NGOs India has been disseminating information for plans, work, strategies and
implementation of the programmes for NGOs. Funding is the main requirement for
NGOs to implement their plans in social sector. NGOs India has been helping
NGOs for getting funds and grants by various informations, knowledgebase and
disseminating useful resources to enhance and improve programmes and activities.
The main base that donors, grant agencies and funding organisations provide funds
to NGOs are proximity, accountability and flexibility in working with local
communities. NGOs have to demonstrate the viability and enable certain solutions
to extrapolate the strategies to get funds at the local, regional, national and
international level.
The NGO management have to maintain professionalism in the NGO and to build
adequate trust with the sponsors, donors and funding agencies. To create strategy
for funding programmes NGO should start from transparency, accountability and
communication.
Your communications must keep the target audience in mind, and must be
designed accordingly.
Know what to convey, when and how, and how frequently. Many
organizations develop communication tools, but their efforts remain
inadequate in dissemination, or fade away with time.
However, the point to note here is that NGOs are also working in a market, they
are exposed to the various market related factors and externalities. They need
mechanisms to sustain themselves, and many of the organizational and marketing
principles hold good in case of NGOs too.
