2.1.2. Common Function Failures

Situation One
The DVR is powered on, but the initialization fails. The LED indicators are not on, and theres no long
beep sound as we usually hear when the DVR is powered on
Solutions
1) Make sure your adapter works properly, and the power switch on the DVR rear panel is switched on.
2) Connect the DVR to power, and perform the following measurement and servicing.
3) Check if the frequency of X2 is 12MHz. Otherwise, replace it with a new one, and check again.
4) Change U14 and U1 and U8 and U9, and check if the DVR can be powered on normally.

Situation Two
No HDD is detected. When the DVR is powered on, there's a message "NO HD" in red appears on the top
right corner of the screen.
Solution
1) Replace your SATA data bus / HDD with a new one and see if the problem is solved.
2) If not, replace U1 with a new one.

Situation Three
Network connection failed.
Solution
1) Connect your DVR to your computer / notebook with a network cable, and see if the message
network cable unplugged is shown. If no, there might be something wrong with your network setting.
Please refer to the DVR user manual.
2) Replace U10R167R168R169R170 with new ones.

Situation Four
The password is locked.
Solution
Please get the hardware reset manual from your AVTECH technical representative.

Situation Five
When the DVR is powered on, the long beep sound continues without stopping and you dont see the
welcome logo. (1.2V to earth short circuit)
Solution
1) Replace the power board with a new one to ensure the problem is not caused by the power board.
2) Please remove D8 diode, and measure if any short circuit occurred in both sides of D8. If yes, replace
D8 with a new one.

Situation Six
Unable to set date / time, or the system time is wrong (RTC NG)
Solution
1) Check if the frequency of X1 is 32K768HZ. Otherwise, replace it with a new one, and check again.
2) Replace U4 & BT1 with new ones.

Solution
Replace U33 with a new one.

Situation Eight
PTZ camera cant be controlled (PTZ NG)
Solution
1) Make sure the connection of RS485A / B is correct.
2) Make sure the ID, baud rate & protocol set on your DVR are the same as your PTZ camera.
3) Replace U19 with a new one.

Situation Nine
No VGA output or poor VGA output (VGA NG)
Solution
1) Some models only support signal video output (VGA or COMPOSITE). Make sure you have set the
video output to VGA.
2) Replace the VGA cable and your LCD monitor to ensure this problem is not caused by your VGA
cable or monitor.
3) Replace U1 and U9 with new ones.

The error message SYS ERR 14-000 shown after DVR power-on.
Solution
Replace U5 with a new one.

Theres no image for main MONITOR output.
Solution
U26 and R282 are defective and should be replaced.

2.2.2. Common Function Failures

Situation One
The DVR is powered on, but the initialization fails. The LED indicators are not on, and theres no long
beep sound as we usually hear when the DVR is powered on
Solutions
1) Make sure your adapter works properly, and the power switch on the DVR rear panel is switched on.

Situation Two

Solution

Solution

Situation Four
The password is locked.
Solution

Solution
4) Make sure the connection of RS485A / B is correct.

Situation Eight
No VGA output or poor VGA output (VGA NG)
Solution
1) Some models only support signal video output (VGA or COMPOSITE). Make sure you have set the
video output to VGA.
2) Replace the VGA cable and your LCD monitor to ensure this problem is not caused by your VGA
cable or monitor.
3) Replace U1 and U9 with new ones.

Solution

Situation Ten
USB device detection failed (USB NG)
Solution
1) Replace your USB mouse or flash drive with the one which can be detected normally by other DVR to
ensure this problem is not caused by the faulty USB mouse or flash drive.
2) Check if the frequency of X4 is 12MHZ Otherwise, replace it with a new one, and check again.
3) Replace U81 with a new one.

Situation Eleven
DVD drive detection failed and no DVD backup option (DVD NG)
Solution
1) Replace your DVD drive with the one which can be detected normally by other DVR to ensure this
problem is not caused by the faulty DVD drive.
2) Check if the frequency of X5 is 30MHZ Otherwise, replace it with a new one, and check again.
3) Replace U82 with a new one.

Bad video or audio output in the live view (VIDEO & AUDIO NG)
Solution
1) For CH1~CH4, replace U84 with a new one.
2) For CH5~CH8, replace U86 with a new one.
3) (16CH model only) For CH9~CH12, replace U87 with a new one.
4) (16CH model only) For CH13~CH16, replace U89 with a new one.

Situation Thirteen
The channel image is overlapped on other channels image frame, for example, you can see CH2 image
on CH1 image frame.
Solution
Replace U56 & U57 respectively with a new one.

3.1.2. Common Function Failures

Situation One
No video output after power-on.
Solution
1) Before power-on, measure C206 & C207 and see if theyre short-circuited. If theyre short-circuited,
please replace with a new one. (If no, go to the next step)
2) Before power-on, measure RA02 and see if its 75. If no, replace RA02 & SP01, and power on to
check if the video output is normal. If no, replace ICA01. (If yes, go to the next step.)
3) Before power-on, measure C701 and see if its short-circuited. If yes, please replace with a new one.
(If no, please go to the next step)
4) Measure DP01. Both sides should be 12V. If no, please replace with a new one. (If yes, go to the next
step.)
5) Measure X1 and see if oscillatory. If yes, please replace with a new one. (if no, go to the next step.)
6) Measure IC202, pin 3, and see if theres wave of output voltage. If no, replace with a new one. (If yes,
go to the next step.)
7) Check IC201, IC2, IC3 & IC4 accordingly and see if theyre ok. (recommended not to replaced by
yourself)

Bad video output (distortion or interference)
Solution
1) Before power-on, measure C102,C104 & C105 and see if theyre short-circuited. If yes, replace with a
new one. (If no, go to the next step.)
2) Replace SP01 with a new one and power on to check. If still NG, replace CA02, ICA01, & RA02 75
(P/N: PR75R/0603-00)
3) Replace Q101, D101, D102 & IC2.

Video output is normal, but IR LEDs are not activated.
Solution
1) Make sure this is caused by the main board or the IR LED board. If its caused by the main board, go
to the next step.
