Onewayofusinghonorificsistousespecialnounsinplaceofregularnounswith"honorific"ones.Moreoften,specialnouns
areusedwhenspeakingaboutrelatives.Thus,thespeaker/writermayaddresshisowngrandmotherashalmeonibutreferto
someoneelse'sgrandmotherashalmeonim.Themcomesfromthehonorificsuffixnim(),whichisaffixedtomany
kinshiptermstomakethemhonorific.Allverbscanbeconvertedintoanhonorificformbyaddingtheinfixsi(,

subjectspeechlevelsareusedtoshowrespecttowardsaspeaker'sorwriter'saudience.Thenamesofthe7levelsarederived
