COLLEGE PARK, Md. On Nov. 19, 2016, University of Maryland sorority Sigma Delta Tau,
hosted their annual philanthropy event, Eat Your Way Through College Park. The event benefits
one of the sororitys charities, Prevent Child Abuse America.
Prevent Child Abuse America is a national organization that promotes the healthy development
of children and prevent child abuse before it occurs.
The event included an all-you-can-eat buffet in the sororitys chapter house, located on Knox
Road. Tickets were sold for $7 before the event and $10 at the door.
Jordan Cohen, the vice president of philanthropy for SDT hosted the event.
My favorite part [of the event] is that every single girl in our chapter is so happy to be super
involved throughout the semester to help plan for it, said Cohen. I know that many students at
Maryland look forward to this event every fall.
Food for the event was donated by local restaurants, including Buffalo Wild Wings, The Board
and Brew, Bagel Place and Sweetgreen.
In preparation for the event, several committees created to plan every detail. There was a
donations committee, errands committee, and food committee, to name a few.
Aside from food, the event also featured a raffle, which was set up at the entrance of the house.
The raffle included jewelry, spin class packages, gift cards to local restaurants, and cleats signed
by World Cup Champion David Villa.
I was so lucky to help organize an event with such amazing people who genuinely look forward
to it so much! And, it was even better to see how much money we were able to raise for PCAA,
said Cohen.
