Group Definitions

Literacy The ability to use language proficiently.

Sponsor(s) A person or organization that provides funds for a project or activity carried out by
another, in particular.

History The study of past events or the whole series of past events connected with someone or
something.

Markers Used to indicate important locations in a book or piece of writing or a writing tool.

Genre A category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities

in form, style or subject matter.

Class/ Professor Definitions

Literacy (Contemporary) The ability to perform a specific task (or task set) and be comfortable
enough to share it with others.

Sponsor(s) Those who show us how to support our efforts (mentors, teachers, coaches, etc.).

History The past events involved in literacy (Possibly the relation between sponsor and
learner).

Marker Points in history which indicate events, large markers show bigger events.

Genre Systems of categorization.
