Project #3: THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEARNERS ATTENTION AND

COMPLETION in MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSES

In this project, I could understand how to apply some data analyses

methods and use some technology to organize the data. Moreover, I could

use my own data that I collected via NIU Qualtrics. This project aimed to

explore is there any relationship between learners attention and their

completion in Massive Open Online Courses. It was the first time to conduct

Logistic regression style to my data. SPSS helped me to prepare the findings

for the project. I also was able to fix the missing values that I got in my data

by using Hot Deck Imputation.

Evidence of Mastery of Objectives:

#1: Design a study of an educational research problem or phenomenon using appropriate

methodologies.

This objective has been met because I have done this project based on a

research problem which is MOOCs attrition. It is a trying to find the

relationship between learners attention and the MOOCs completion.

#2: Design and/or select appropriate assessment or evaluation tools for a given educational

problem
 This objective has been met because I think this project is an attempt to

assess the relationship among an educational problem which is the

relationship between learners attention and completion in MOOCs.

#3: Select appropriate analyses for a given research question.

This objective has been met because the used analysis matched the given

research question. Logistic regression was used because the dependent

variable of the study is categorical. The research question was that what is the

extent of the relationship between learners attention and completion of MOOCs? so using

logistic regression was an appropriate analyses for this question.

#4: Apply appropriate technology to conduct analyses of educational data

This objective has been met because I could use Spss app to conduct the

analyzing part of this project. In addition, I could use NIU Qualtics to

download the data to the SPSS.

#5: Conduct a study pertaining to an educational research problem or phenomenon

This objective has been met because this project was a conducted study

that explores a research phenomenon which is MOOCs completion rate. The

study required collection data, findings, and discussion.
