BEDROOM - DAY

SHU is lying on a bed with her husband, ZHONG. Shu is

staring at the ceiling.

INT. KITCHEN - DAY

Shu is making coffee in the kitchen. Halfway through, her

husband comes out of the room yawning, with a towel in
his hand.

SHU
Morning. Did you sleep well?

ZHONG
Mm.

SHU
What time will you be back today?

ZHONG
Don't know.
SHU
Tonight for dinner I make Kway
Chap ok?

ZHONG
Orh.

SHU
Are you still having headaches?

ZHONG
Yeah.

SHU
I made you coffee. It helps with
the headaches.

Shu brings the coffee to where Zhong is seated. Zhong is

getting visibly annoyed.

ZHONG
You know I hate coffee.

SHU
I know, I know. But it helps with
the headaches.

ZHONG
I'm not drinking it.

SHU
At least take a sip.

ZHONG

Zhong slams toilet door. Shu starts to sob quietly. The

sobs fade after a while, as she breathes in heavily. She
pulls the coffee towards her and drinks it.

TITLE: Kway Chap

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

Shu waves goodbye to husband from the door. She closes

it, and sighs. She starts doing chores. She washes the
plates, and wipes them aggressively. She is cleaning the
room, and encounters a cockroach. She screams, and uses
the broom to excessively hit the cockroach. She does
lots of heavy breathing to calm herself down. She is
chopping up meat. She forces rubbish into a trash bag.

Shu goes to the fridge and opens it up. We see containers

full of meat and we see she does not have any eggs. Shu
goes to the phone and calls someone.

SHU
Hua ah? Today you free? I need to
do grocery shopping. Want come?
Ok. Ok meet you there at 1. Bye
bye.

EXT. MAMA SHOP - DAY

Shu is in the mama shop with her younger sister, HUA.

HUA
Jie ah, how has Zhong been?

SHU
Very good, very good. He's been
busy with work lately. Very busy.

HUA
Ohh. Does he come home very late?

SHU
Some days he does. But most days
he comes home in time for dinner.

the shop.

EXT. CORRIDOR - DAY

Shu enters the house and Hua waits outside for her.

EXT. HAWKER CENTRE - DAY

Both of them are walking in a Hawker Centre.

Shu sees a cook chopping up meat. She starts to zone out.

Shu is crying, as she eats her kway chap.

EXT. HAWKER CENTRE - DAY

Shu is brought back to the present.

SHU
Huh what?

Shu starts to shout, and all around people are staring at

her.

SHU
Why-why is everyone staring at
me? Wha-What's happening?

HUA
Calm down Shu-

SHU

There's nothing wrong with me,

Shu starts crying and runs away from the market.

EXT. VOID DECK - DAY

Shu is running and runs across the void decks. She runs
all the way to the lift lobby, where Hua catches up with
her.

HUA
Shu! Shu wait! Stop running away!

Shu gets into the lift and takes it up. Hua decides to
run up the stairs.

EXT. CORRIDOR - DAY

Shu is trying to open her gate, when Hua arrives.

HUA
You have to face the truth Shu!

Shu gets into her house and slams the door.

HUA
You can't keep running away. You
have to face the truth Shu.

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

SHU
Go! Just go!

We see Shu start to sob again, and after taking deep

breaths, she has calmed down. She looks at the eggs she
bought.

SHU
Make dinner. It's ok. Make
dinner.

Shu walks into the kitchen. A clock displays that 3:24pm.

DISSOLVE TO:

Clock reads 6:37pm.

The gate unlocks and the door closes.

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

SHU
Zhong is that you? Just nice,
dinner's ready!

SHU
Come, eat.

They begin to eat.

SHU
Are you feeling better?

ZHONG
Good.

SHU
Ohh. I'm feeling good too, I went
grocery shopping with Hua.

Zhong looks up.

ZHONG
Hua?

SHU
Mm! Anything wrong?

ZHONG
No, nothing.

SHU
Well, she said something that got
me thinking. Honey, I think, we
should try for kids again.

ZHONG

Shu starts to sob and she falls onto the ground, sobbing

bag to find something, but can't find it. She walks back
to her house.

EXT. CORRIDOR - DAY

Shu sees that the door is open and that there are shoes
at the front door. She looks puzzled. She creeps into the
house.

INT. BEDROOM - DAY

She looks into the bedroom and sees Zhong and Hua making
out. She is mortified and looks like she is gonna cry.
She sees the knife inside the kitchen, however. Her face
changes and looks resolved. We see her holding a knife as
she stands at the door of the bedroom.

CUT TO:

BLACK

FADE IN:
INT. BEDROOM - DAY (LATER)

We see her sitting on the floor, all bloodied with her

knife. She is sobbing. She breathes heavily, and starts
to aggressively scrub the blood off the floor. We see her
try to stuff the body in a rubbish bag, but fails. She
looks really troubled. Suddenly, she remembers the knife.

She lifts up her knife.

CUT TO:

BLACK

SHU (V.O)
I would never, I-I would never.

INT. KITCHEN - DAY

We see her crying as she eats the "Kway Chap". We see in

front of her, containers and containers of red meat. She
is sobbing

Title appears.
