    The structural design calculation document provided beam and slab designs for a building project. While the calculation referenced design drawings, the contents did not fully represent the actual building plan shape. For example, a generic slab design was presented for a building with 3 classrooms. No calculations were shown to justify the load bearing wall strength for earthquake loads, only a statement about the structure providing stability for gravity and low seismic loads. Column lap splices were located in the middle of columns for a building in seismic zone 3, against code requirements. Beam splices were also not fully designed.

    For Program element review, design calculation was provided included Veranda
    beam design and Slab design. More detail design was provided in the visit Phase 2
    data.
    Following observations are based on phase 2 design calculation.
    1. Design calculation labeled as depending on Plan shaped of drawings
    2. However design contents of design calculation doesnt represents true picture
    regarding Plan shape of building
    3. For example generic slab design model is presented with 3 class room
    Block Masonry Earthquake Resistance:
    No calculation was provided which justify that (load bearing wall are sufficiently
    strong to bear EQ loads), instead of only statement was provided in
    "This type of structure is sufficient in providing structural stability for gravity loads
    as well as safety against earthquakes of low intensities that are likely to occur in
    zones 2A & 2B. Our structural design is based on Pakistan Building Code Chapter-5,
    Division I-III. All structural elements such as foundations, verandah columns, slabs
    and staircase are designed by manual calculations."
    Column
    Lap splice is provided in mid of column in seismic zone 3 for example Ziarat Talash
    "Lap splice permitted only within center half of clear column height".
