Too much emphasis is put on academic qualifications nowadays. In Malaysia, for instance,
jobs are secured by only those who are achieve well in their academic performance. In my
point of view, academic qualification may be important but it is not the only factor to ensure
success in life. Success cannot only be measured by academic qualification but it must be
followed by individul capacity as the skill and ability to get involved in community or any
institituion whether is government agency or private sector. It should be considered as well.
Skills can be categorized in many ways, for example, social skills (or can be called as soft
skill), language skills, and computer skills. It is not guaranteed that an individual with the
perfect grades will get a job and who those with bad grades cant get a job. This is because
academic qualification is solely based on one performance in their respected schools,colleges
or universities. It is not based on what they are yet to execute and apply it in the working
environment. Hence, skills are far more important in determining a successful life in the
future.
Success never depends upon grades. If success and opportunities were measured by grades
then the interviewer will not ask for biodata in resumes, where other qualifications are also
mentioned. But they will interview the prospects in order to find out what they are like as
people, rather they would give a blind appointment to the people with the best paper
qualifications. So qualifications alone are never enough, success depends upon physical
characteristics, personality, and a willingness to work hard.
Unfortunately the materialistic world has changed the concept of success. Every students keep
chases grades rather than studying for life and acquire knowledge more to bring it to better
life. Ten years in school then continue spend a few more years in college and university to get
educated, get a good result but finally it turn to be just waste your time because after
graduated, the more time is passed in hunting for jobs. Afterward, we may find ourselves in
the wrong profession and not satisfy with the jobs doing.
Besides that, people can success with through use their talent that they have. For example,
Dato Siti Nurhaliza our successful singer become success only use her talent without have
academic excellence. From nothing, become popular and success as we know and see now.
She also have her own company and be ambassador of beauty products Simply Siti.
In conclusion, not necessarily without academic excellence a person cant success in their life.
And not individu with have a good academic achievement will guarantee a success life. That
has other way someone can success without academic excellence such as through talent,
business or background family.
