The present world is in constant fear of being attacked by a new and brutal
terrorist group that is known as ISIS. ISIS is not only becoming a problem for the United
States but is also becoming a problem for surrounding countries in the Middle East. This
is due to their continuous fight to try and prove that their religious supremacy is correct
and all other religions and believers should be converted or annihilated. ISIS believes in
the religion of Islam, and they claim that they have a duty to carry out the wishes of their
God to improve mankind. They do anything to fulfill their supposed orders that they
receive from their God by conducting massacres, and many other merciless atrocities.
Similar Islamic terrorist group like ISIS (examples: Boko Haram, Al Qaeda) are
convinced that if the orders of their Gods are not fulfilled, the believers should take
action against the people who are nonbelievers of their ideology. Many countries around
the world are gripped by terror and held in fear but not taking steps to stop ISIS. The
most powerful civilized nation in the world, America cannot remain silent to this human
brutality. America and other allies should definitely take bold steps to try and eradicate
ISIS stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. It is a Sunni militant
group that occupies parts of Syria and Iraq. The goal of ISIS is to establish a Sunni
Muslim Caliphate. A caliphate is a nation or territory lead by one supreme religious and
political leader. According to CNN report, since ISIS proclaimed itself a worldwide
caliphate in June 2014, they have conducted more than 140 terrorist attacks in 29
countries. The number one reason for America to take action against ISIS is that ISIS is
committing horrendous deeds by executing tourists and foreigners that do not believe in
the same religion as they do. ISIS stops vehicles, check their passports and
identifications and if ISIS figures out that the person is not of the same religion, they
execute them outside of their vehicle. ISIS has put up propaganda of 3 male truckers
stopped, and then being shot to death for being a Shiite Muslim (Spencer 1) .To make
matters worse, ISIS have taken over and are now controlling multiple border outposts,
ISIS is now letting in recruits from other countries, allowing them to have a constant flow
of new recruits. One particularly dangerous aspect of ISIS is the fact that an estimated
3,000 of its members are foreigners, with international visa and the ability to travel
freely. Why should America try to abolish Islamic terrorist? America has been the victim
of several terrorist attacks. One attack, in particular, couldve been prevented was here
in the US, San Bernardino shooting, on December 2, 2015. Rizwan Farook and
Tashfeen Malik snuck into the united states of Fiancee visas and then contacted
Enrique Marquez Jr who had been a U.S citizen. He bought two assault rifles to carry
out the terrorist attack. This is the result of the visa program. There are gaping holes in
the visa program that allow terrorists to sneak into the United States and carry out such
attacks.(Fox News) The couple arrived in the United States and began firearms
training. Later, pipe bombs were found in the homes of the couple, as well as
thousands of rounds of ammunition. (Fox News) This shows that the guidelines for the
visa waiver program can easily be manipulated and turned in the favor of the terrorists.
The question is, how is the United States going to prevent such attacks from
happening? There should be strict immigration laws that prevent the potential terrorist
from entering the US, this should mean enhanced background checks. But ISIS is no
longer just targeting the U.S, ISIS is not just basing in Iraq and Syria, ISIS is conducting
attacks all around the world like attacks carried out in Paris, and Brussels. America
endured several other terrorist attacks such as the shooting of Philadelphia police
officer (Jan.7, 2016), the Orlando nightclub shooting (June 12, 2016), and the
Ohio State Univerity attack (Nov. 28. 2016). The Orlando Nightclub shooting was the
most devastating attack carried out by one individual. This alone shows how much
impact that a group of individuals, or maybe only one individual could have such a
negative impact on society. There should be better ways to shut down terrorist
operations in the United States. We should be protecting the innocent and rule out such
evil in this world. American citizens have the right to enjoy their life without fear of being
killed by terrorists. The United state government has the duty to protect its citizens.
Another reason the United States should take action against ISIS is because
of the barbarous treatment of ethnic minorities in the area of ISIS-controlled areas. The
treatment of the people in the ISIS controlled areas is even more horrific than what ISIS
are doing around the world. ISIS have been known to kidnap and then torture several
groups of people in ISIS controlled villages and cities. Between June 13 and July 10,
ISIS rounded up at least 83 Shia Shabak men from villages on the eastern outskirts of
the mens fate, as well as relatives of five men. Seven of the men were later found dead
and the rest remain missing, the committee members and relatives said. (Human
Rights Watch) This shows that the behavior of ISIS is no doubt, very sadistic. The
people are stolen. Along with ISIS, there are untrained militias securing towns and not
having enough supplies to fuel their operations to protect the people. Not having
enough supplies leads them to steal from several villages and make them a menace to
the locals and villagers. Locals have complained that local paramilitaries have been
abusing their power, looting homes and stealing property. (Vice News). The problem is
with the government that refuses to fund and fuels the small partisans protecting the
people. ISIS's harm is not only being done on the people but they are now doing harm
to destroying several ancient cities that are not of any significance to their religion, The
group seized the buildings of the Chaldean Catholic archdiocese and the Assyrian
Orthodox diocese in Mosul on June 29, several residents, government officials, and
religious leaders told Human Rights Watch. They said that ISIS took down or destroyed
six religious and cultural monuments in the city, including a statue of the Virgin Mary
and an Islamic grave site. ISIS also destroyed or damaged at least 13 Shia mosques
and shrines in areas outside of Mosul between June 24 and July 2, they said. (Human
Rights Watch) The hard work of others is being demolished, now people are no longer
able to admire these religious wonders and those relics have been lost to history. There
are many precious materials that have been stored and many historical landmarks that
are now rendered useless because of ISISs behavior. The history of that ancient city
can never be discovered and are now lost to the careless behavior of this group.
Stopping ISIS should be a number one priority now, we must prevent the destruction of
more ancient cities, and we must also prevent the kidnapping of even more people.
The last but certainly not the least reason that ISIS should be intervened by
the United States is because of their spread throughout many regions. They are
spreading rapidly throughout the region of Syria and are controlling areas of Iraq as
well. Iraq is known to have nuclear weapons in their possession. If the United States
doesnt get involved, ISIS will be able to control more territory in the Middle east. The
Islamic State, also known as ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh, swept through a third of Iraq in 2014,
seizing Mosul, the largest city in the north, and reaching the vicinity of Baghdad.
(Rosen and Reuters) ISIS is also attracting the attention of many other militant
organizations formed on behalf of Islamic, groups such as Boko Haram have decided to
join forces with ISIS to cause more damage in the world. The leader of Boko Haram
stated the following We announce our allegiance to the Caliph (ISIS) ... and will hear
and obey in times of difficulty and prosperity. (BBC News) In the following statement,
Abu Bakr Shekau (leader of Boko Haram) declares an alliance with ISIS to have a more
productive order of operation. Another group allying with ISIS would be very disastrous
because of how much harm could be done with the amount of extra manpower that
Boko Haram could grant to ISIS. Another fear that we have about ISIS is their constant
spread of their ideology, their ideology has spread to many Western countries and is
making many people convert and join the group. "American law enforcement officials
estimate that roughly 250 Americans have tried to join ISIS. Most of them never left the
United States, raising fears of more homegrown attacks like the one in December in
San Bernardino, California." (Connor and Schuppe) The influence of ISIS is very great
in western countries such as the United States and a steady flow of recruits keep
coming from many other parts of the world. If the United States doesnt get involved in
these operations to stop ISIS and prevent the steady stream of recruits, the United
States might be targeted by the group and sustain heavy terrorist attacks against
America. One of the darkest days in American history was September 11, 2001, when
America was attacked by the Islamic terrorist. The mastermind behind that brutal attack
was Osama Bin Laden (leader of Al Qaeda) who expressed his view on Americans and
other religious groups like this on September.11, 2011 Every Muslim from the moment
they realize the distinction in their hearts, hates Americans, hates Jews and hates
Christians. For as long as I can remember, I have felt tormented and at war and have
felt hatred and animosity for Americans. (Joe 1) ISIS operates on these same
principles as well. If America does not wipe out these evil ideologists from the world,
the whole world will continue to suffer their brutalities until they achieve their goal. But
the United States must act against the dark legion before the group gets their hands on
military hardened missiles and vehicles that will fuel their operation until most of the
peacefully in this world. They do have the world terrorized by their actions. Their
extreme and brutal executions have been enacted on people from America, France, and
Europe. America cannot and should not be silent to ISIS that is spreading like cancer.
They want to go back and reject modernity, well I think we should help them, We ought
to bomb them back to the stone age." U.S Senator Ted Cruz, Texas, (Fox News.) It is
also worth highlighting what former vice president Joe Biden said at Portsmouth Naval
Shipyard on the Islamic States beheading of journalist James Foley and Steven Sotloff,
We take care of those who are grieving and when that's finished, they should know we
will follow them to the gates of hell until they are brought to justice. (Hunter 1) Who in
the right mind would argue that this statement is wrong? This shows how much ISISs
actions have been noticed and judged by the supreme rulers of our nation. America is
founded on the unalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If ISIS still
exists, then how can we be able to pursue such goals? ISIS must be stopped to protect
