Our Guest Speaker

On Sunday, May 14th, we will welcome our guest speaker, the Rev. Dr.
Campbell Lovett, Conference Minister, Michigan Conference, United
Church of Christ.

Rev. Lovett is a third-generation pastor and has served

in a variety of roles as an interim minister, pastor, co-
pastor, and senior minister at churches in New England
and North Carolina. He has also been on non-profit
boards involved in feeding the hungry and community
organizing. With a B.A. from Penn State University,
Rev. Lovett earned his M. Div. from Yale University and
a Doctor of Ministry degree from Hartford Seminary.

Rev. Lovett will be bringing the Morning Message, titled Day by Day.
Following our Morning Worship, please stay for our Fellowship Hour and
visit with our friend from Lansing!

For the Fifth Sunday of Easter, the paraments and

altar linens are white symbolizing purity. Our
Lenten journey has come to an end Jesus has won
the victory! He Has Risen!

Acts 7:55-60 is one of the suggested daily Bible reading for Sunday,
May 14, 2017. (The 2017 United Church of Christ Calendar).

But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and
saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of
honor at Gods right hand. 56 And he told them, Look, I see the
heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at
Gods right hand!

Then they put their hands over their ears and began shouting. They
rushed at him 58 and dragged him out of the city and began to stone
him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a
young man named Saul.

As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, Lord Jesus, receive my
spirit. 60 He fell to his knees, shouting, Lord, dont charge them with
this sin! And with that, he died.

Helping the Needy

We are now collecting non-perishable food
donations that will be delivered to the Fish &
Loaves food pantry, in Taylor. This organization
was first launched by an ecumenical group of
churches, led by St. Paul United Church of Christ
in Taylor and their Pastor, Rev. Geoff Drutchas.

Fish & Loaves offers needy families and individuals a wide range of canned
goods, refrigerated and frozen foods, dairy products, and seasonal produce
at no cost to clients. Since opening its doors in 2008, the Fish & Loaves
Pantry has assisted more than 9100 households and over 13,000 men,
women, and children. They distribute over two million pounds of food
annually.

Church Clean-Up Day May 13th!

Saturday, May 13 8:00 AM until Noon, we will

gather to spruce up the grounds and clean the inside
of the church, A list of jobs is posted on the bulletin
board in the Tower entrance hallway. Bring your
favorite cleaning supplies. For outdoor work, be sure
to bring sturdy work gloves, a garden rake or trowel, and anything else you
think might help! For indoors, dust rags and furniture polish. See you then!
