MEAS APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Application process

Applications are made through the central online system for Master programs of Goethe University in
cooperation with Uni assist e.V. All applications for the M.A. MEAS programme will be processed through
this system (http://www.uni-assist.de/online-application.html).

An online application offers you the opportunity to apply in a paperless way via the central online portal for
master degree programs. Using the upload function, you can submit all of the required documents (such as
the CV and education certificates) electronically, and assign them to the respective application.

Applicants with international degrees have to send their documents by post to uni assist e.V. additionally in
order to have the application process successfully completed.

Please see the application deadlines on http://meas.uni-frankfurt.de

I. All the documents submitted for admission should be send at once and not in piecemeal fashion.
II. Please refrain from submitting any additional documents, which are not explicitly requested by us,
such as personal pictures, job references, or else.
III. Please submit the documents according to the deadlines.

1. The CV
The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a) your personal data on top of the sheet (including email
and postal address so that we can contact you); b) it should be either a chronological CV focusing on
your academic career or a so-called academic CV

2. The Letter of Motivation

The letter of motivation is a letter in the literal sense. It should be addressed to Prof. Storz and contain
all other features of a proper letter. The letter of motivation should explain which features of the
MEAS attracted you, the reasons making you suitable for the MEAS, and what you think you could
contribute to the whole program. It should be approximately one page long and be written in English.

3. The Letter of Reference

The normal procedure to obtain a letter of reference is to approach a university professor, who knows
you. The professors preferences may differ. Some are used to send the letter directly to the intended
institution, in this case to the MEAS coordinator: flock@em.uni-frankfurt.de. Others will give the
letter to you which you may upload directly to the online application. Letters of references from
persons not affiliated with a university cannot be considered.

4. The Research Proposal

The research proposal should be of a length of 2000 to 2500 words excluding the bibliography. It has
to be written in English. Please find detailed guidelines for the research proposal in the document
Guidelines for Composing a Research Proposal in our download section. If you have further
question, please contact the coordinator.

5. Certificates
Please provide a scan of all the requested certificates, enclose them in your application, and in case of
foreign certificates, please provide an English transcript. Please mail hardcopies only if requested to
do so.

6. English Proficiency
The English Proficiency is a key to the MEAS, which allows for a fruitful dialogue among students
and professors. Please take the requirements given as binding. The following English proficiency
certificates are accepted as being equivalent to TOEFL:
o IELTS 6,5 or higher
o TOEIC 700 or higher
o Cambridge Proficiency, difficulty level of Cambridge English Advanced or higher
o Common European Framework (CEFR) C1 or higher
o MELAB (Michigan Language Assessment Battery), 76 or higher
o Michigan Proficiency (ECPE), C1 or higher
