Sir:

This is in response to the letter issued by that Office requiring me

to pay in full and settle the total amount of One Hundred Twenty Eight
Thousand Eighty Nine Pesos (P 128, 089.00) within seven (7) working days
upon receipt of the letter. The demand letter issued by that Office was
diametrically opposed to the prior communication issued by Main Office of
Benchmark Corporation in that the latter required me to pay the amount of
EIGHTY THREE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED THIRTY THREE PESOS
(P 83, 233.00) within seven (7) days from my receipt of the memorandum
while the former ordered me to settle the amount of One Hundred Twenty
Eight Thousand Eighty Nine Pesos (P 128, 089.00) within seven (7) working
days upon receipt of the letter. A copy of the said letter is hereto attached as
Annex A. The undersigned believes that the prior Memorandum should
prevail considering that it was issued by higher office. Without necessarily
resorting to technicalities, I would to state that, without admitting the
offense hurled against me, I am willing to pay and settle the amount
contained in the letter of that Office within a given reasonable period.
Further, as sign of goodwill, I am attaching a Promissory Note pursuant to
such purpose. Complying with the aforestated obligation within seven
(days) from receipt of your memorandum is undoubtedly impossible on my
part considering the fact of termination of my employment and financial
setbacks I am facing at present. In this regard, may I respectfully request
that I be given sufficient period in complying with my obligation. Within
the said period I intend to collate my financial resources and solicit the
assistance of my relatives so I would come up with the said amount. Failure
on my part to fulfil my promises within the stipulated period shall
constitute sufficient action for the company to undertake adverse actions
against me.
 Apropos the security on the part of the company with the said
undertaking, I am allowing that Office to forfeit my savings in the
Employees Investment Savings Program amounting to TWELVE
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED SIXTEEN PESOS (P12, 516.00). However,
settlement of the abovementioned amount on my part shall partially release
me from the entire liabilities arising from the undertaking. Thus, in the
interest of equity, I beg that Office to grant my request to settle my
obligation within a reasonable period.
