Brief Description of Assessment

For our assessment of the review session we had two assessments. The first was a

confidence assessment to see how students felt before and after the review session. This

asked students to rate confidence on a scale of 0 (not confident at all) to 4 (very

confident). We asked students before and after the review session and we collected this

sheet of paper after the review session. The second assessment was a short online quiz

that consisted of 9 multiple questions total, each TA created 3 questions for their section.

Analysis of Results

As you can see under the Results From Confidence Survey students felt on

average an entire point higher in confidence after the review the session. Our online quiz

also went really well, with an average score of 7.53. The majority (25) of students

received scores between an 8 & 9. As for my questions 90% of students answers question

8 and 9 correctly and 87% of students answered question 7 correctly.

Implications

Our data shows that our lesson delivery was pretty effective. Overall students felt

better about the exam after they attended our review session. Students were also able to

answer quiz questions on the topics that were covered during the review session. By

doing a review session our responsibility was to help students prepare for the exam by

reviewing material, not to teach them new material. The best assessment was our survey

as it pertained just on our review session. The quiz was a good assessment too, but too

many outside factors could have contributed to students doing well on that such as having

notes handy or prior knowledge of the material. If I were to do another lesson I would

administer the quiz during the review session for its data to be more valid. I honestly

think our lesson delivery went pretty flawlessly, and student feedback was positive.

Letting students ask questions on topics they didnt understand allowed it be a little more

student driven. Our lesson was there to guide students thinking and to provide a review. If

I were to lead another review I would do it in the same format.
