Conference Homework

Assignment: Rough Plan:

Type a very rough outline that includes just the headings youll include. Add any

subheadings you expect (maybe youll be partitioning or classifying different methods,

etc.). Add specific details with which to support each section with bullet points, not the

fancy numbers required in formal outlines.

Topics/ Headings:

Basic knowledge of what a bacteria, antibiotic, and antibiotic-resistant bacteria

are.

o Evidence: Wikipedia?, Microbiological journals

Subheadings?: Structure, Function, Ability to affect one another

Discussions of different types of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and their effects on

antibiotics.

o Evidence:

Subheadings?: New Age vs. Older Age, which combinations of

antibiotics arent working

Brief explanation about antibiotic-resistant bacteria

o Evidence:
Subheadings?: Development over time, changes in DNA?,

mutation, common/dangerous types of bacteria, what leads to the

resistance

Why antibiotic-resistant bacteria could be a threat for human health?

o Evidence:

Subheadings?: MRSA, TB, persistence,

How antibiotic-resistance is created in bacteria?

o Evidence:

Subheadings?: Bacteria evolution, Antibiotic effects on mutating

bacteria

What methods are used against to combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria?

o Evidence: Use articles on specific experiments collected previously

Subheadings?: Old methods vs. New methods, Antibiotic of last

resort (our strongest antibiotic currently), methods to circumvent

resistance

Which method is more effective?

o Evidence:

Subheadings?: Problems with antibiotic treatment, problems with

non-antibiotic type treatments, benefits of each, things holding

back combating antibiotic resistant bacteria

Finally, write a one-paragraph reflection. Was this exercise useful? :

We found this exercise very useful by broadening what some helpful subheadings

could be for our review paper. With everyone contributing to this document, we are able

to compile different ideas and approaches towards a topic that other might not have

thought of. Doing a Rough Plan of the Point-to-Make list was a wonderful idea of helping

the structure of our paper become more clear and where to properly place and centralize

ideas of the articles. We were able to lay out the foundation for our review paper without

much difficulty and were able to identify which subheadings were appropriate to include

in each section. This exercise also allowed us to view any overlapping of ideas under

each section.
