Hydrodynamic Separation & Screening
HSS CDS Gross Pollutant Trap
CDS units can be configured to suit
most site limitations associated with
hydraulics and construction and have
the capacity to cater for the highest
possible flow in the stormwater
system. The CDS GPT unit is located
entirely underground and is easy to
maintain as most units can be fitted
with a removable basket that facilitates
cleanouts. The CDS GPT unit is
endorsed by the Auckland Regional
Council (ARC) as a pre-treatment device
that achieves 65% TSS removal.

The smallest model in the CDS range

is known as the Nipper (CDS 0506),
and is ideally suited for treatment of
small catchments areas (less than a
hectare). The Nipper is a lightweight
option manufactured from strong,
polymer materials.

HSS Humegard Gross Pollutant Trap
Humegard has a unique product design
that effectively captures and retains
gross pollutants typically contained in
stormwater runoff. During normal flows
the angled boom directs all flows into
the storage/treatment chamber where
the gross pollutants are separated and
stored. During peak flows, or under
tidal influences, the angled boom floats
and continues to direct all floating litter
into the storage/treatment chamber.
The regulated flow ensures previously
trapped materials are retained.
Humegard generates substantially lower
head loss than other gross pollutant
removal systems.

Humegard is easy to maintain using a

vacuum truck and is typically designed
for six monthly clean outs based on
average litter loadings. Humegard does
not rely on filtering or straining stormwater and therefore is blockage resistant.

product and is focused on removing the
most ecological damaging stormwater
contaminants including suspended
solids, hydrocarbons/petroleum
products and sorbed contaminants
such as heavy metals. Humeceptor
can be configured to capture up to
60,000 litres of petroleum products from
emergency spill incidents. It retains
entrained hydrocarbons during both
dry weather emergency spills and wet
weather rainfall events.

Humeceptor is suited to the capture of

fine contaminants close to the source of
generation and will therefore generally
be suitable for catchment areas with an
impervious area between 1000m2 and
8 hectares. The expert design system
software enables a specifier to size the
unit on the basis of local hydrology. The
modular precast concrete components
and the unique Kor-N-Seal rubberised

stainless steel supporting frame, plastic
inflow seal, internal bypass mechanism
and a filter bag that is easily removed
and emptied during maintenance.

EnviroPod is available with a 1000

micron screening bag for capture
of gross pollutants or a 200 micron
screening bag for capture of smaller
particle sizes. EnviroPods re-usable
polyester screening bag is
interchangeable and bag selection
is dependant on the pollution
generated from each specific site.

In addition to being a stand alone

treatment device for small catchment

Filtration
F Humes Sand Filter
Sand filters generally comprise two
compartments: a sedimentation
chamber and a filtration chamber. The
main benefit of the Humes Sand Filter
is the flexibility of shape, where space
is constrained. The depth and footprint
can be varied according to space
constraints. Humes simple design
incorporates an overflow opening to
prevent flooding in case of storm events
greater than the design storm.

Humes Sand Filters are made of

modular precast concrete units
with factory pre-assembled internal
fittings, all ready to be placed into
the excavated ground and connected
to the drainage system. Sand filters
have demonstrated service life and
consistent pollutant removal when
properly maintained. Maintenance for
sand filters is simple and inexpensive.

The Humes Sand Filter is both an

economical and effective option for
removing pollutants while meeting the
Auckland Regional Council (ARC)
TP10 requirements.
