Q3 WHAT CAN WE DO TO SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT

As days goes by, our Earth is dying and due to this, we are suffering. With global
warming and fluctuating energy costs, many of us struggle with how to go green
and the cost that can be associated with it. There are many low costs and easy
ways to both save the environment and save money at the same time.
Firstly, we can save the environment by car-pooling. Less car on the road will
cause less air pollution. This is because car emissions can pollute the air. We can
also use public transportation such as train, bus or bicycle to reduce the
emission to the air. Hence, by lessen the transport on the road, we can keep our
air clean and fresh.
Secondly, we can try to adapt the 3R concept in our daily life. The 3R stands for
Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Instead of disposing recyclable items, we can
recycle it for other uses. Recycling obviously refers to buying recycled products.
But first of all we need to sort the waste into the appropriate categories. These
categories is shown on the standard colour of the dustbins in Malaysia where
brown bin is used for glass objects, blue for papers and orange for plastics. So, if
you cannot reduce your consumption or find a way to reuse a product, recycling
is a better choice than simply throwing something into the trash.
Thirdly, we can also save the environment by planting trees which is a favourite
Earth Day activities. By planting trees, we can help to control the Earths
temperature. Trees play a critical role in keeping our air clean and controlling the
temperature of the Earth. Trees releases oxygen gas to the air and trapped the
carbon dioxide through a process called photosynthesis. As an addition, the more
trees that we have, the better our air quality and that is why planting trees is an
excellent step to take towards saving the environment. As a result, planting trees
can help to provide us clean air as well as control the Earths temperature.
Lastly, as a member of local communities, we need to encourage others to save
the environment. One person can make the difference but if everyone pass
around the same knowledge and information about this problem, more people
will be aware to save the environment. Therefore, the impact is greater than only
one person. Together we can make change to the world.
