Terrorism

Terrorism

Terrorism is a significant threat to peace and security, prosperity and people.-

Ban Ki-moon.
On the morning of September 11th 2011, it was a quiet morning until 8:45, the North

Tower of the World Trade Center was hit by a hijacked plane. This struck fear in

people's minds, and in their hearts, they thought it was over until the 2nd plane struck

the South tower approximately 18 minutes later. There was dust in the air, It was hard to

breath or see, and people then knew what true terror was like, this was not ethical nor

moral, but this was done to cause pure fear in the minds of many americans. In the year

of 2016, there was 16 major terrorist attacks, that were not justified or ethical, They just

did them to cause chaos. There were families that were hurt from this because they

didnt know why the terrorist groups did this. It was not just the World Trade Center that

was hit on this morning as well. There was a plain headed for the pentagon that hit part

of the pentagon and took out one of the sides.6

There are many different terrorist groups, The most well known and maybe the

most dangerous is a group that calls themselves ISIS. This terrorist group estimated by

an Intelligence Agency, has about 30,000 members, ISIS has taken over an area of the

Middle East. They have taken over the second-largest city in Iraq, that is called Mosul,

with only a few thousand members on June 2014, This not only gave them a lot more

power than they had before but showed everybody how easy it was, and struck fear in

the rest of the country because they would not be knowing if their city was going to be

taken over any time. Barack Obama, the current president ordered missile strikes on the

town that was taken over by ISIS organization. Taking over this city was ethical for the

terrorist group, to show that they had more power than the government, and could take

over any city that they wanted, and this gave them a place to work out of with hostages
to keep it so they would not get bombed by other countries because it would be killing

innocent people.

Paris France, on november 13th, 2015 the city was a series of coordinated

bombings throughout the city with only one purpose, to cause chaos. It was a peaceful

night the 5 different attacks happened all between 9:20 - 10:00 pm. This caused a panic

in the city, and made people afraid for their health, and the health of their loved ones.

These attacks took 130 lives off of this planet, took those people away from their

families, with no ethical or moral reasons. Abdelhamid Abaaoud, he was 28 year old,

and is described as the suspected ringleader in the Paris attacks. He died in a long gun

battle with police, who raided a flat in Saint-Denis. The Saint-Denis is the area that he

was involved in bombing. He was believed to be involved in the bar and restaurant

killings. His fingerprints were found on a Kalashnikov left in a car abandoned in

Montreuil.

On April 15, 2013, two homemade bombs detonated at 2:49 pm, near the finish

line of the Boston Marathon, The outcome was terrible, it killed 3 people and injured

several hundred others, and several others lost limbs. The search for the two brothers

was pursued on April 19, with many different officials searching a 10 block radius

around the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Residents of the surrounding towns and

communities were asked to stay indoors, and most businesses were closed. Around

6:00 pm a resident of the town discovered Dzhokhar hiding in a boat in his backyard.

While trying to hide from the police in the boat he was shot and later arrested by the city

officials. The suspect's name is Dzhokhar Anzorovich, who was hiding in the boat in the

backyard of a local resident, and was shot by the police, but lived and was arrested that
night. He had an older brother that helped pull off the bombing, but he was shot and

killed by the police in a chase. The motive for the two brothers was just terrorism. They

had no real motive and caused chaos in the city, and took 6 lives from this world. This is

the 3rd terrorist attack that was performed with no ethical or moral reasoning, just

terrorism, and this is just a few of the recent attacks, there are many more.

In 2016 there was a 29 year old security guard that went into a nightclub in

Orlando, Florida, shot and killed 49 innocent people, and injured 53 other people. The

shooters name was Omar Mateen, This was the deadliest shooting by a single shooter

in the united states by one shooter. A 911 call was made shortly after the shooting

started, and right before Omar started shooting he yelled out swearing allegiance to the

leader of a terrorist group called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, and then began

shooting. When the shooting started many people that were in the club thought the

gunshots were firecrackers, or part of the music, but a bouncer that was a war veteran

recognized the sound of the gunshots, and ran into the club to help people. He ran to

the back and jumped over a counter and unlocked and opened a door which let around

70 innocent people out of the building and into safety. One surviving victim was alive to

tell the story about their night because they ran into the bathroom and took cover behind

others bodies, and the bartender hid beneath the glass bar. There was one other guy

that tried to run inside to help the wounded people, and when he went into the bathroom

to help the people in there, there were several gunshots through the closed bathroom

door that killed him and one other man, and the thirteen others that were in the

bathroom were all wounded but are alive today to tell the story. The reasoning for this

shooting was to get a point across to the United States, to stop bombing his terrorist
group(ISIL) so he was doing this to get back at the United states. Omar came out on the

news and said I am the shooter, It was me and died later that night when trying to run

from the police, He was running and got shot by an officer at around 3:00 am that

morning. This shooter was going on the anger of the United States from attacking his

terrorist group, and he took his anger out on innocent people in a bar at 2:30 am, and

this was all for nothing, because it brought more attention to this group to stop them, so

when you look at the entire thing he just killed a bunch of good people for no reason. So

again like all of the other attacks talked about in this paper, were all done for nothing,

without any ethical or moral reasoning.

This paper was about how there is no terrorist attacks that are moral or ethical

and there is no way that they are able to be ethical or moral. Even though there was

only a few terrorist attacks talked about in this paper that doesn't mean that that is all of

them, These are just a couple of the major ones. There have been 45 other attacks in

the last 5 years in the United States, and there are a lot more than that outside of the

united states.
