Services:

Under
the
supervision
of
Lorna
Dawson,

I
was
able
to
provide
occupational
therapy
services
to
participants
at
this
day
program
for
older
adults
with
dementia
or
Alzheimers.
I
performed
the
Allens
Cognitive
Level
Screen
(ACLS)
on
each
participant
and
designed
appropriate
activities
to
suit
each
participants
cognitive
level,
thereby
enhancing
participation.
I
also
coordinated
an
in-service
for
the
staff
to
educate
them
about
the
ACLS
and
the
implications
for
participants
at
each
level.

the
supervision

Yonkers,

I
was
able
to
complete
a
placement
in
subacute
rehab
and
acute
care
units.
I
conducted
and
analyzed
ADL-based
evaluations,
planned
and
executed
client-centered
interventions,
and
utilized
Cerner
(for
acute
care)
and
Vision
(for
subacute
rehab)
to
document
evaluations,
daily
treatment
notes,
discharge
documentation,
progress
notes,
and
complete
billing
charges.
Other
experiences
included
conducting
co-treatments
with
physical
therapists,
providing
an
in-service
to
the
rehab
staff
on
the
Home
Safety
Self
Assessment
Tool,
participating
in
daily
team
meetings
and
patient
care
conferences,

collaborating

physical
therapists,

social
workers
to
make
discharge

the

I
completed
a
rotation
in
several
units
of
Mary
Freebed.
I
primarily
saw
patients
in
the
pediatric
outpatient
program,
but
also
had
the
opportunity
to
provide
coverage
for
therapists
who
work
on
the
inpatient
pediatric
team,
medically-
complex
(oncology)
team,
spinal
cord
injury
team,
and
brain
injury
team.
I
conducted
and
analyzed
evaluations,
planned
and
executed
client-centered
interventions,
and
utilized
Cerner
to
document
evaluations,
daily
treatments,
discharge
documentation,
progress
notes,
and
complete
billing
charges.
Other
experiences
included
compiling
a
booklet
of
common
visual
deficits
seen
in
patients
with
brain
injuries,
their
clinical
presentations,
and
guidelines
for
treatment.
I
was
able
to
present
this
booklet
in
an
in-service
to
the
inpatient
pediatric
team.

included
compiling
background
research,
developing
research
hypothesis,
creating
research
stimuli,

counterbalancing
experimental
conditions,
and
developing
the
experiment
using
Survey
Monkey.

Sensory
Integration
Conducted
a
literature
review
on
the
efficacy
of
various
sensory
integration
methods
used
to
treat
auditory,
tactile,
and
vestibular
defensiveness
in
children
with
autism
for
my
honors
college
senior
thesis.
