Course Title Life, Works and Writings of Rizal


Course Code: PI 1
Prerequisite: None
Number of Units: 3 units
Course Description: The course deals with the life, works and writings of Jose Rizal with emphasis on their relevance and implications to all
aspects of life, particularly the perpetuation of national consciousness and aesthetic humanism.
Vision of the University: A world-class university dedicated to the development of virtuous human resources and innovations for inclusive growth.
Mission of the University: To develop globally competitive professionals and industry-ready graduates via various modalities and generate new
knowledge and technologies for the improvement of the quality of life.
College Goals To provide quality instruction in the arts and sciences and develop well-rounded professionals who can:
1. think critically, scientifically and independently
2. preserve cultural heritage;
3. become active change agents;
4. exemplify disciplined and moral lives;
5. appreciate and cultivate the arts; and
6. help improve the quality of life.

Program Outcomes: The program aims to develop sociologists who are:


1. Equipped with a working knowledge of human beings and society, social organizations and institutions, social
actions, interactions, interrelations and processes;
2. Knowledgeable and skilful in the interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches in the effective and efficient
implementation of development program and projects; and
3. Adept in the conduct of sociological investigation as basis of decisions, actions and policies of government and
other agencies in the implementation of development programs/projects.
Course Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
1. know the conditions that affected and influenced the life, works and writings of Jose Rizal
2. understand the greatness of Jose Rizals character, the richness of his ideas and concepts and
teachings which are his legacies to humanity
3. teach to the youth the role of Jose Rizal as a citizen of the world in espousing and defending human
rights and fundamental freedom which were important in his days as they are in our times
4. apply thoughts and teachings of Rizal in situations and problems in our daily life, to the individual, to the
society and to the country in general
5. promote the true spirit of patriotism and nationalism
6. challenge the youth to acquire proper and right direction and search for a better national life.
7. display a strong sense of nationalism
