RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

In thi experiment the emissivity of different plates were obtained. The test were made at

different power sources and the heat radiated and emissivity were computed. Below were the

data gathered:

With the different increasing power source the heat radiated in the system increases.

For example, the heat adsorbed at 2 volts for the matt black plate is 119.646 and it increases to

175.95 when the power source is 3. For the next power source which are 4,5,6 and 7 the heat

adsorbed are 267.444, 351.9, 457.47 and 584.154 respectively. This is the same with the other

two plate. The heat adsorbed for the silver plate are 126.684. 175.95, 242.811, 302.364, 422.28

and 446.913 respectively for the powersource 2-7. Lastly for the polished plate the heat
adsorbed are 21.1140, 24.633, 42.238, 49.266, 59.823 and 63.342 respectively for the power

source 2-7. This is also true with the temperatures of the system.

For the different plate the matt black plate has the highet heat adorbed , next is the silver

plate and lastly is the polished plate. The ambient temperature are almost the same for each

powersource. The variation may be due to the different date of performance.

Lastly the matte black plate has the highet average emissivity which is 1.4268 next is the

silver plate which has an average emissivity of 1.3883and lastis the polished plate which

average emissivity is 0.5705.

Chapter 4

Conclusion and Recommendation

Materials emit energy at a fraction and this is called the emissivity. Black bodies have

higher emissivity compared to gray body. Black bodies are ideal emitter. The matt black plate

has the highest emissivity followed by the silver plate and lastly is the polished plate

To avoid errors in the data it is recommended to be accurate in all the procedures

underline. The experiment will comune a lot of time because the system needs to adsorb the heat

from the source. It is not advised to lesson the waiting time because it may cause a problem.

The data should only be read at the moment the reading are stable.
