RESEARCH PAPER CONGRESS (RPC) GUIDELINE

I. TARGET
Medical students and medical practitioners

II. GENERAL RULES

1. Medical Fiesta 2017 Research Paper Congress (RPC) competition is an
International wide competition.
2. All participants are undergraduate students (clinical and pre-clinical year) of
medical and health science major.
3. A team consisted of 1-3 persons.
4. All team members must come from the same University
5. The leader of the team should not be a leader in other competition.
6. The complete abstract had to be submitted before deadline.
7. Medical Fiesta 2017 Research Paper Congress (RPC) is an original research
competition for all fields of medical research.
8. Participants must submit the abstract of the research that has been conducted and
finished before Medical Fiesta 2017. The research model can be a/an original
report, case report, or epidemiological studies.
9. Participant submit only abstract first during the preliminary round and the
complete paper in final round.
10. The abstract must be an original research abstract, not a review or a meta-analysis
11. The complete Research Paper is submitted only if the participants are chosen to
enter the final round.

III. ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

1. Payment method
a. Participants should pay the administration fee before registering the team.
Payment is done by transferring the registration fee to the account below

b. Registration fee amount:
- 1st period : IDR 140.000
- 2nd period : IDR 160.000
2. Registration method
a. Participants should fill the registration form online and upload the payment
receipt in the Website lsimfkub.ub.ac.id within 24 hours after transferring the
registration fee.
b. Participants should confirm the registration to the committee of Medical Fiesta
2017 by message or Whatsapp to one of the Contact person of Research Paper
 Congress (RPC): Nur Nadia (+6281233715968) or Adisty (+6281290300233,
message only) with the same format: Country Name_University
Name_Registration_RPC Competition_Team Leader (Example :
Indonesia_Universitas Brawijaya_Registration_RPC Competition_Nur Nadia).
The confirmation must be done within 24 hours after online registration..
c. Registration period :
- 1st period : 2nd of May 30th of June 2017
- 2nd period : 1st of July 1st of August 2017
d. All registration requirements (including payment and confirmation) should be
done before each deadlines at 23.59

IV. ABSTRACT WRITING FORMAT

1. Abstract must be submitted in file format .doc
2. The number of words in used in abstract ranged from 250-300 words (excluding
the title, name of authors, and correspondence)
3. Abstract submitted in Medical Fiesta 2017 is an original work of the author and
must have not been submitted or published (oral or written) in any other event nor
media including conference, congress, journal, or international, national, or
regional competition.
4. The keywords used in abstract should not exceed six (6) words
5. Abstract should not contain any citations or references
6. Any abbreviations should be defined by using brackets just after the full word or
phrase is typed for the first time.
7. Participants should use the research abstract template that can be downloaded in
official website of Medical Fiesta 2017.
8. Structure of abstract:
Title
The title must be concise, easily understood, and informative with maximum
words of twenty (20) words

Name of authors, affiliations, and correspondence

Introduction
Give information which introduces your research in general and state your
hypothesis.

Methods
State your research method, materials, statistical analysis, including dependent
and independent variables used in your research

Results
Describe the effects and statistical analysis of your research based on the
methods applied

Conclusion
Give a clear and brief summary of your research outcome
3. Keywords
The most important words of your research, which are the core of your study

V. SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
 1. Participants should complete the payment before submitting the research abstract.
- The complete research abstract had to be submitted before 3rd of August 2017
2. Each team is prohibited to resubmit their abstract.
3. Registration and submission period:
e. 1st period : 2nd of May 30th of June 2017
- 2nd period : 1st of July 1st of August 2017
- Submission period : 30th of April 3rd of August 2017
All entries must be submitted before August 3rd 2017 at 23.59.
4. The review must be submitted to the email address
research.medfiesta17@gmail.com with subject University Name First Author
(eg. UniversitasBrawijaya Nur nadia) with attachments:
- Research abstract
- Curriculum Vitae*
- Letter of Originality*
- Photo/Scan of Identity Card**
- Photo/Scan of Student ID Card**
- Registration form*
- Pass photo 3x4**

**Including all team members
All files must be gathered in one file and submitted in .rar/.zip
5. Participants should confirm the registration to the Contact Person of Research
Paper Congress (RPC) Nur Nadia (+6281233715968) or Adisty
(+6281290300233, message only) through text message or Whatsapp with format
Country name_University Name_Submission_Research abstract_First Author
(eg. Indonesia_Universitas Brawijaya_Submission_Research abstract_Nur Nadia).
Confirmation must be done within 24 hours after the submission.

VI. SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Submitted papers abstract will be scored during the preliminary round using
judging criteria with blinding method where all authors name, identity, and name
of the university they presented will be omitted from the paper.
2. Top ten (10) entries will proceed to the final round. The result will be announced
in official website and social media of Medical Fiesta 2017.
3. Participants who proceed to the final round should submit their full paper to the
email research.medfiesta17@gmail.com.
4. In the final round, ten finalists should present their paper in the form of oral
presentation using power point application.

5. Each finalist will be given 10 minutes for presentation and another 8 minutes for
the Q&A and discussion.
6. Top three (3) finalists will be determined during the final round.
7. The decision made by the judges is final.
8. The final round is open to the general public for viewing

XI. GUIDELINE FOR RESEARCH PAPER CONGRESS FINALIST

1. Each team should make a presentation in Microsoft Power Point. Participants are
encouraged to make a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007. The committee
is not responsible if there is a motion animation that is not readable on the
committees laptop. The slide number is not restricted. Participants must use the
committees laptop and are not allowed to use a personal laptop.
2. Slide content should not contain any forms of racial discrimination or pornography,
in case of infringement to this point, then all decisions are the authority of the
committee.
3. The softcopy presentation is collected at the Technical Meeting. The committee
will not accept any softcopy presentation on the day of the presentation.
4. The time given by the committee is 10 minutes for presentation and 8 minutes
for questions and answers. If the presentation time runs out, participants must
stop the presentation, without exception.
5. Teams are evaluated based on their written abstract research and their presentations
6. Oral presentation will be evaluated according to the as followed assessment
