1.0 INTRODUCTION

1)Meaning Of Computer Networks

-A computer network is a group of computer systems and other computing hardware devices
that are linked together through communication channels to facilitate communication and
resource-sharing among a wide range of users. Networks are commonly categorized based on
their characteristics.

2)Meaning Of Communicatios

-Communications is about the transfer of information from a sender, across a distance, to a

receiver. Using electricity, radio waves or light, information and data in the form of codes are
transmitted through a physical medium such as wire, cable, or even the atmosphere.

3)Meaning Of Computer Networks And Communications

-Computer networks and Communication is A computer network or data network is a
telecommunications network which allows computers to exchange data. In computer
networks, networked computing devices exchange data with each other using a data link. The
connections between nodes are established using either cable media or wireless media.

2.0 MOBILE COMPUTING

2.1)Definition of Mobile Computing

-Mobile Computing is generic term describing your ability to use technology
unetethered, that is not physically connected, or in remote or mobile (non static)
enviroments. The term id evolved in modern usage such that it requires that the mobile
computing activity be connected wirelessly to and through the Internet or to and through a
private network. This connection ties the mobile device to centrally located information and
application software through the use of battery powered, portable, and wireless computing
and communication devices. This includes devices like laptops with wireless LAN or wireless
WAN technology, smart mobile phones, wearable computers, and Personal Digital Assistants
(PDAs) with Bluetooth or IRDA interfaces

3.0 INTERNET TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES

3.1)VoIP
-VoIP is short for Voice over Internet Protocol. Voice over Internet Protocol is a category of
hardware and software that enables people to use the internet as the transmission medium for
telephone calls by sending voice data in packets using IP rather by traditional of the PSTN

3.2)BLOG
-A weblog (blog) is website that contains a log or diary of information, specific topics or
opinion. A blog author (blogger) links to stories or other websites with relevant and
interesting information. These links are typically segregated according to the blogs topic or
subtopic and written in reverse chronological order, meaning that the most current links
display at the top of the blogs home page. Another major characteristic of blogs is the ease of
use to post. Prior to blogs, you needed to understand HTML to produce a website or
otherwise involve a back-end production team. Blogs opened up online publishing to the
masses

4.0 TYPE OF NETWORKS

4.1)PAN
-A personal area network (PAN) refers of the interconnection of information technology
devices or gadgets within the environment of an individual user (typically within 10 meters or
33 feed). These interconnected devices might include laptop computers,PDAs, cellphones,

6
printers, PCs or other wearable computer devices. Also known as a wireless personal network
(WPAN)

4.2)VPN
-VPN is short for virtual private network. A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that is
constructed using public wires usually using the Internet to connect to a private network, such
as a companys internet network. There are a number of systems that enable you to create
networks using the Internet as the medium of transporting data. It secures the private network
as these systems use encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized
users can access the network and the data cannot be intercepted

4.3)WLAN
-A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a wireless distribution method for two or more
devices that use high-frequency radio waves and often include an acess point to the internet.
A WLAN allows users to move around the coverage area, often a home or small office, while
maintaining a network connection. A WLAN is sometimes call a local area wireless network
(LAWN)

4.4)WIMAX
-WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Acess) is a telecommunications
protocol describing fixed and fully mobile Internet acess services. The protocol conforms to
certain parts of the IEE 803.16 standard

5.0 CONCLUSION

We conclude that computer networks and communications make our life more easier to
communicate and interact with each other and world using the computer make it more easier
than before.
