Hired as a full-time Library Media Specialist upon completion of a Masters in Education from the
University of Central Arkansas in May 2007. Left Bryant School District on Excellent terms to make a
move from a classroom teaching position to the library.
Key Contributions:
Earned accolades from building principal for innovative approaches to learning using 21 st Century
Skills.
Instrumental in implementing and developing the technology used at Ringgold Elementary (iPads,
laptops, Smart Boards, Document Cameras, Web 2.0 Tools in the classroom).
Instrumental in bringing an updated Library Data System (Destiny) into Benton School District so
libraries in K-12 would have a common online system and database for collaboration and collection
development.
Promoted the Accelerated Reading Program and encouraged students in the reading choices to
meet reading goals.

Hired as a full-time teacher in a brand new elementary school to teach 2 nd grade. Left Bryant due to an

library media position at Benton Schools.

Hired as a full-time teacher in Fort Smith, following student teaching practicum, instructing all
academic subject areas to classrooms of up to 25, 2nd grade students. Left Fort Smith PSD (on excellent
terms) at the end of the 2007 academic year to move back to my hometown of Benton to raise my
daughter.
Key Contributions:
Earned high marks for the quality of classroom teaching, lesson plans and instructional
materials used in teaching each subject and co-teaching with ESL and SPED Para-professionals.
Helped instruct teachers district-wide on the Pinnacle Grade Book during the school year and
summer, working alongside the Technology Department.
Utilized Accelerated Reading and Accelerated Math in the classroom as well as Benchmark
Phonics.
Was an AR 1st model classroom.
Trained in ELLA and Effective Literacy.
