MANDATORY ENTRIES IN ENGINE LOG BOOK

Following entries must be filled in the engine room Log Book along with other additional
entries that may be necessary:

Date and voyage where the ship is heading

The position of the ship ( at sea, at port or at anchorage)

Pre-arrival or Pre-departure test as per companys checklists

EOSP

Stand by Engine

FWE

Daily, Weekly and monthly test

UMS ON/OFF times

Readings and Parameters of Main Propulsion Engine

Readings and Parameters of Auxiliary Engine (Generators)

Readings and Parameters of Other running Machineries

Main engine RPM and Load on the Engine

Speed of the ship in knots

Daily Entry for all the lube oil ROB ( Rest or Remaining onboard)

Daily entry for all grade of Fuel Oil Remaining onboard

Running Hour Counter for important machinery


Record of any Major Breakdown and reason for the same

Record of Incident or accident in the engine room (Fire, Flooding etc)

Record of grounding, collision and other accidents

Record of Major overhauling of important machineries

Record of all Bunkering operation ( Time, Place and quantity)

Record of all Sludge and garbage disposal operation

Remarks for additional work done in a watch

Remarks for Surveys and PSC inspection

Signature of the concerned watch keeper

Signature of Chief Engineer to make sure all entries are in position


MANDATORY ENTRIES IN BRIDGE LOG BOOK
Following are the entries which must be filled up by the Deck officer during his/her
watch:

Statement of vessels Official Language

Standard Statement of Master when new Ships Articles are opened (applicable
for some Flags)

Position of the ship in Latitude and Longitude at different intervals

Time to be noted when Navigation marks are passed

Time, details and reason if there is any course alteration

Condition of weather and changes if any

Movement of the ship at sea including rolling, pitching, heaving etc

Details of any abnormal condition

Speed of the propulsion engine and speed of the ship in knots

If involved in any kind of accidents like stranding, grounding etc. then details for
the same

Entry to be made if any physical contact with floating object or vessel is made

Details of the distress signal received

Entry for what kind of assistance is given to the distress signal sender

If salvage operation is performed, complete details to be entered

If there is an oil spill or other pollution accident, position of the ship, time and
complete incident to be recorded
Record of general watch routines performed including fire watch

Time of arrival and departure and ETA.

If berthing or anchoring is planned, time for the same to be noted.

Information on Cargo work and other activities in port

Visits by various Officials and Authorities

Stemming of Bunkers, Freshwater, Stores, etc

Search for Stowaways, Contraband and SSP-related items

Daily test of BNWAS

Time when BNWAS was turned ON & OFF

Autopilot test

Steering gear test

Various Drills performed as per Companys Annual Drill List

Summary of weekly & monthly inspections of LSA as described in SOLAS
