Archetypes

Pride and Prejudice uses many patterns of symbols, characters and events that
happen in the novel. The author, Jane Austen, uses many archetypes such as satire in
the novel the explain the world in a way of mockery. Also, many events that occur in the
novel also occur in everyday life; and in many circumstances, they are unavoidable.
Austen creates characters that go into many archetypes such as Elizabeth and Darcy.
Their Roles parallele the real world and its events. Four types of characters outlay their
own specifics archetype such as the mentor, the epic hero, the tragic hero, and lastly
the free spirit.
The Mentor in Pride and Prejudice is Mrs. Gardiner is an amiable and intelligent
woman who advises the two eldest daughters of the Bennet Family on marriage and
men. Mrs. Gardiner warned Elizabeth about Wickham at the Ball saying, Wickham had
one means of affording pleasure, unconnected with general power. That quote means
that the only way Wickham can fund his expensive life style is by others people's
wealth. Mrs. Gardiner warned Elizabeth by saying that you should be careful about who
you trust.
The Epic Hero of the Pride and Prejudice is Mr. Darcy. Even Though he is very
wealthy he still cares about Elizabeth and other people that are in the Bennet family
even if they don't care about him. When Lydia ran off with wickham thinking it was love
but it really wasn't Mr. Darcy found the two before word got out of what happened and
ruined the family name. What Mr. Darcy did next was that he forced the two to get
married and funded the entire thing and made sure that, The wedding need not to be
put off, for Mr. Darcy might have done as well. He made sure Wickham and Lydia didn't
run off without getting married to each other.

Georgina Darcy would be the Tragic hero of Pride and Prejudice. She is Mr.
Darcy's younger sister who Mr.Darcy cared for once their parents died. She has a large
fortune that will be given to the man that she marries. When she was fifteen Wickham
She was Persuaded to believe herself in love, and to consent an elopement. When she
came back unmarried Mr. Darcy Prevented her Public exposure so that her name
wouldn't be ruined.
The Free Spirit of Pride and Prejudice is Lydia. She is a fifteen "untamed,
unabashed, wild, noisy, and fearless". She doesn't care about what other people think of
her. She will flirt with anyone in uniform and she doesn't learn her lesson about
Wickham, returning to Longbourn with the same assurance as she had before she left
with Wickham to get eloped. She is to trusting for everyone and doesn't have a snce a
regard for anything.
Four types of characters outlay their own specifics archetype such as the
mentor, the epic hero, the tragic hero, and lastly the free spirit. Mrs. Gardiner is an

how to live life safely. Mr. Darcy is the Epic Hero because even Though he is very
wealthy he still cares about Elizabeth and other people that are in the Bennet family
even if they don't care about him. Georgina Darcy would be the Tragic Hero because
she was convinced to marry someone that just wanted her money and her love but
thankfully Mr. Darcy stopped anything from happening. The Free spirit would be Lydia
Bennet. She is a fifteen "untamed, unabashed, wild, noisy, and fearless". She doesn't
