Light Phase #4 Proposal Sheet/TPOL Preparation

One of the most important benchmarks in the HTH experience is the Transitional Presentation of Learning (TPOL). The
following sheets will help you reflect on your experiences this semester and design your final few weeks of the school
year.

Reflect on some of your academic and social Strengths. Include thoughts or anecdotes about your abilities,
work habits and behaviors. How has your project work been affected by these strengths?

Learning Area Strengths Evidence/Storytelling

Science I like to learn more about what isn't I ask questions about many different things and lots
generally suppose to be taught of random stuff

Language Arts If I get interested in something that I The Dorothea Lange writing piece was not the most
(reading, writing, am writing i can write a lot about it interesting at first but i found something that got me
talking) to start writing a lot more and it sparked the rest of
my writing senses

Math I get most of my work done on time I only have turned one thing in late and that was
and gets turned in on time because i didn't know when it was due but i solved
that problem by asking when specific things are due.

Artistry/Craft I like the hands on stuff and enjoy I created my landscape picture and did a pretty good
seeing the final product epoxy coat on it

Group I'm good with communication to my My group uses some of the ideas I put out there
Work/Collaboration group

Ownership (putting I take ownership for my work even if it Ask anyone and they'll tell you that i was so proud of
your stamp on isn't the best I still am proud of it my photo that I epoxied
work)

Reflect on some of your academic and social Areas for Growth. Include thoughts or anecdotes about your
abilities, work habits and behaviors. How has your project work been affected by these Areas for Growth?

Learning Area Areas for Growth Evidence/Storytelling

Science Taking notes on what is written down I miss a lot of the stuff on the board because I want
on the board instead of questioning to know more about something else
more

Language Arts My writing is lacking some interesting I can't seem to make a reflection long enough
(reading, writing, content because I don't know what to talk about
talking)

Math I could use my time better I finish my work on time but on some occasions I
have to take some worksheets home to finish which
could have been done in class

Artistry/Craft I would love to do all this arts and I sometimes don't participate in the hands on
crafts stuff but i always feel like activities like the dorothea lange picture that we had
someone could do it better to dunk in the converter/the e mulationthing
Group Sometimes i could include myself When we were making the putty i stayed back
Work/Collaboration more in the work that we have to do instead of doing more of the hands on stuff to make
instead of just spectating the final product

Ownership (putting I need to work on having more to do Sometimes I let other people do the hands on work
your stamp on with the work especially on the hands but I want to start doing that more so I can feel like
work) on stuff it's mine more than theirs

Phase #4 Design

The purpose of Phase #4 is to give us all a chance to dive deeply into work that is exciting and will push us in our
Areas of Growth. These projects are student-led and will be exhibited with our Light project and at each student's
TPOL. Each student will complete the following questionnaire and meet with Mike and Andrew to critique and revise
their plan

What are some Areas of Growth that you ought to work on? What aspect(s) of the project work would you revisit or
improve upon? I want to work on my note taking skills because they were crucial to the blog posts and would help
me with my writing since it is lacking content. I would revisit the times I would have group work time to do more
hands on work to be able to call it mine.

What specific explorations will you pursue to enrich the Phase #4 experience?

Science/Technical This all depends on the picture but I want to either do some astrophotography or a landscape
shot and while doing this I plan on learning something new with the camera and with editing

Reading Nature is something I would like to read more about because it will help with my photo

Writing I could look at my blog post and see how I can improve them to make them better and write my
upcoming blog post with more interesting content

Photography Landscape is what I want my final picture to be i just haven't decided on how I want to present it.

What is a Final Photograph that could encapsulate your growth this semester? How? Sketch a draft.
I want to take a photo of a beach sunset with colors that go from red to a dark blue and I want to have a good amount
of stars in the background. This will help me practice my landscape photography which i want to improve on. When
taking this shot I would have learned the proper settings for the camera at night.
-Add resources/materials
-Check in with groups as we propose/go
-Clarity around purpose of the photo
-Does it have to be photography or can we do other things with light?
-What if you want to do something badly, but it doesnt involve reading or writing or etc?
-What are the limits for travel/time away?
-Who might we work with or group with?
-How important will our choice be?
-Can you work independently from school? During school?
-Time to get it done?
-Connects to TPOL? Share about all phases or just #4

-Can you include info from last semester?

-How specific should we be about areas for growth? Skills, work samples, content etc
-Can a blog serve as the language arts/writing section?
-Do you have to have a growth area and strength for each subject?
-What is the role of math?
-What does putting your stamp mean?
-Do strength/growths areas have to do with project? (out of school time)
