The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out
why. As true and as profound as this quote is, Mark Twain was not the original postulator of
creation for purpose. Rather the Ultimate Creator, of the Universe, of time, space and all physical
constants created everything and did so with a purpose. But the question remains, For what
purpose were we created?

The short answer to this question is for His pleasure. Revelation 4:11 says, You are worthy,
our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your
will they were created and have their being. Colossians 1:16 reiterates the point when it says:
All things were created by him and for him. God is a creative Being, and it gives Him pleasure
to create.

Being made in the image and likeness of God, human beings have the ability to know God and
therefore love Him, worship Him, serve Him, and fellowship with Him.
*DRAMATIZATION*

Imagine its Saturday night and youve called Dominos pizza and ordered a thick cheesy crust

pizza with corn, olives, pineapple and peppers as your toppings. They inform you that they will

be at your provided address in approximately 20 minutes. You hang up your phone and you wait

eagerly for your delicious pie as you switch on a good movie.

*** Dialogue***

The question that Ms. Alexis asked is a very deep one. Where is the box? It is a valid question

because who knows where the delivery boys dirty hands have been! You ordered a pizza but you

expected it to be sealed and guarded from any filth or corruption. The recycled box itself isnt

worth nearly as much as the pizza but it is necessary for the transportation of the pizza.

Our Christian ministry must never consist of us elevating ourselves and puffing up our chests in

arrogance. People should be led to the pizza and not to the box. Your life should encourage

people to behold the Saviour. Your testimony should turn the hearts in worship towards the King

so that they might also have a personal experience with Him.

*** SONG by Mindy ***

The Christian experience should not consist of misconceptions about our purpose on this Earth.

We must never yield to the temptation to believe that we are needed by God or that we could

ever be more important than Him. To draw a comparison between the value of God and the value

of our lives will put into perspective the fact that we, as created beings are only given value

because of our Mighty and awesome creator. All of us, when we born are like empty vessels;

only given value because of the residence of Gods Spirit in us.

Brethren, the box need not be fancy or expensive. It doesnt need to be unnecessarily colourful or

embellished but the box needs to be clean and it needs to be available.

The pizza boy cannot be blamed if he carries the pizza in his hand if no boxes were available.

Sitting in the pews without any indication of your willingness to participate in the soul-winning

enterprise means that you are unavailable. Avoiding Sabbath school and AY services and

complaining about the quality of program being presented also means you are unavailable. Do

you know what that means? That means that you are responsible for the gospel not reaching the

homes and hearts of those languishing in sin.

The pizza box also needs to be clean. Matthew 5:48 instructs, Be ye therefore perfect, even as

your Father in heaven is perfect. The call is for all young people to strive for perfection in their

lives and in their decision making.

Throughout our lives, there lies the potential to accumulate all sorts of ungodly things in our

spiritual vessels. Our hearts are sometimes filled with hatred, gossip, jealousy, dishonesty,

fornication and other varieties of sin. But 2 Timothy 2:21 admonishes us to be purged from all of

these things and avail ourselves to the use of God. Purging involves removing those ungodly

habits and allowing God to fill us with the things we need to be able to live full, happy lives here

on Earth and eventually in heaven with the Lord.
