IMPORTANCIA DE LAS ARCILLAS INDUSTRIALES EN LA SALUD

La Geoterapia se define como el procedimiento teraputico que emplea las tierras
medicinales para la prevencin, alivio o curacin de determinadas patologas desde
tiempos inmemoriables tanto por la humanidad como los animales. Si bien es muy
comn la aplicacin externa de las arcillas para problemas dermatolgicos, estas
tambin son ingeridas (geofagia) para aliviar complicaciones gastrointestinales
entre otros.
Las Bentonitas de sodio en uso externo tienen efectos antiflogstico y
analgsico, en uso interno las Bentonitas de calcio tienen un efecto trfico
sobre ulceras gstricas e intestinales.
Las Caolinitas poseen propiedades cicatrizantes, se emplea para blanquear
los dientes y fortalecer las encas (colutorio), en uso interno alivia la irritacin
intestinal, la diarrea liquida, la aerofatiga y flatulencia.
Las Esmectitas absorben los cuerpos grasos, tienen propiedades
desodorizantes y desinfectantes en ulceras purulentas, favoreciendo la
velocidad de cicatrizacin. Tambin se emplean en descongestin de
hemorroides.
Las Montmorillonitas son eficaces para pacientes que sufren sndrome de
intestino irritable con estreimiento
En el Per, un estudio elaborado por EsSalud en el Hospital Nacional Alberto
Sabogal Sologuren muestra que la aplicacin de un compuesto de arcilla medicinal
gris formado por 49.10% slice, 14.61% alumina y proporciones menores de
sesquixido de hierro, calcio, magnesio y oxidos alcalinos como tratamiento de
quemaduras de segundo grado dio una mejora en la piel quemada en la primera
semana para el 95.2% de los pacientes tratados.
As tambin, una arcilla medicinal muy consumida entre los pobladores del altiplano
peruano-boliviano es el CHACO, este tiene una composicin promedio de 54.4% de
slice y un 23.4% de alumina encontrndose variaciones con altos porcentajes de
Montmorillonita y otros minerales de menor porcentaje como Caolinita, Hallysita e
Illita. El Chaco se usa para aliviar molestias gastrointestinales, es efectivo contra la
acidez gstrica luego de la ingesta de bebidas alcoholicas, protege la mucosa
intestinal frente a toxinas y favorece la digestin; tambin se utiliza en la
alimentacin animal ya que aumenta la durabilidad de los granos y previene las
diarreas entre otros beneficios.
La Nasa, en 1960, realizo experimentos del uso de la arcilla para reducir el
agotamiento rpido de los huesos debido a la ingravidez, result que el Calcio en la
arcilla se absorbe de manera ms eficiente que cuando se utiliz suplementos slo
de Calcio.

IMPORTANCE OF INDUSTRIAL CLAYS IN HEALTH

Geotherapy is defined as the therapeutic procedure that uses the "medicinal lands"

gastrointestinal complications among others.

Caolinite has healing properties, it is used to whiten teeth and strengthen the
gums (mouthwash), in internal use it relieves intestinal irritation, liquid
diarrhea, airborne and flatulence.
Smectites absorb the fatty substances, have deodorizing properties and
disinfectants in purulent ulcers, favoring the speed of healing. They are also
used in hemorrhoid decongestion.
Montmorillonites are effective for patients suffering from irritable bowel
syndrome with constipation
