1 ANALYSIS OF IT INFRASTRUCTURE

1.1 INTRODUCTION
The fund raising for the new Childrens Hospital so far USD 2.2M - has resulted
in a 105 bed hospital with all the necessary equipment, staff etc. Almost the end
of a journey that started in 2009.

This document proposes that TriFour, will install the basic modules required to
get them up and running: Registration, Outpatient, Inpatient/Ward, Pharmacy,
Cash Office, Inventory control, Theatre, Laboratory and X-Ray.

The IT trunking for the hospital has been completed. We have considered the
extent of the project and provide in this paper the specifications for the server
and the shadow server. What other IT equipment do they require to use TriMed at
20 work stations?

1.2 BACKGROUND
It has been established that the hospital requires 20 users at the following
locations:

Ground Floor

Reception - 2
Cash Office 1
Pharmacy 1
Inventory 1
Consultants Rooms 4
IT Admin 1
Main Laboratory 1
Nurses Station 1

3
First Floor

Central Reception 2

There are mainly wards of this

floor.

Second Floor

Doctors Rooms 3

Nurses Station 1

Consultants Rooms - 1

Contingency - 1

1.3 THE HOSPITAL

Key points about the hospital are:

Hospital Statistics
26 users estimated for TriMed
105 bed hospital
Intitially 200-250 OPs increasing to 400 OPs per day
3 floors
3 operating theatres
ICU
HDU
Consultants rooms

1.4 SERVER HARDWARE
The Childrens Hospital should consider the following hardware. TriFour will
gladly assist in recommendations for this hardware.

1.4.1 Server Configuration

The server is the heart of the solution it is most important that it is correctly
specified and implemented, as it will dictate the overall performance of the
system. The server must NOT be an ordinary PC, as it must be able to handle the
bulk of the processing. The size/type of the server is dependent on the number of
work stations it must support. Possible future growth must also be taken in
account and the server must be upgraded.

TriFour recommends the following server configuration:

1 Intel Integrated Server Platform S3420GPLC (Grosse Point) & SR1630H
(1U) Chassis - DDR3-1066/1333 SATA. AXXBASRAIL13 Included 3x SATA/SAS
Hot-swap Backplane Drive Carriers & Standard Front Control Panel (350W
PSU)
1 Intel Xeon UP X3430 Processor - 2.40GHz Quad Core Socket 1156 8MB
2Gbps DMI 45nm S3420GPLC S3420GPLX SR1630HGP
4 Transcend 2GB Registered ECC DDR3-1066 240-Pin DIMM Memory - 6
Layer
1 Intel Slim Line Drive - Supports DVD/CD & CD-R SATA
2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 Series - 1TB Serial ATA II (SATA2) Plus -
Serial ATA 300 (3Gbps) With 32MB Cache @ 7200RPM - NCQ
1 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 32Bit / x64 Standard Edition & 5 Client

1.4.2 Workstation Configuration

TriFour recommends the following workstations (personal computers)

configuration:
Personal Computers
>2.1 GHz CPU
Gb Ram, or 2 Gb Ram where reporting is done
>160GB free hard disk space
1 Gigabit network interface cards;
Screen resolution capable of 1024X768 pixels with a minimum colour depth of
256 colours
CD-ROM drive, 2 x USB ports, Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse

5
TriMed is certified for Windows 7 and higher.

1.4.3 Workstation Configuration

TriFour requires the following software (minimum) to be loaded on all personal

computers that will be used to access TriMed:
Operating System: Windows XP, Windows 7, SP3 and updated
Browser: Internet Explorer 11
IESettings Note the following security settings that are require in IE
The TriMed server should be added as a trusted site. See the IE options
Tools->Internet options->Security.
All the Custom Level Settings on IE for this site should be enabled.
On Tools->Internet options->Settings->General->Browser History settings,
the Visit to Every Page should be selected

Note that the actual specifications of the workstations (i.e. CPU, RAM) will have a
direct effect on the response of the system on the specific workstation, in case a
lower specification is implemented.

1.4.4 Printers

Any laser printer can be used by TriMed. At least one heavy duty high speed
printer is recommended for printing of reports etc. If required, TriFour can assist
in the procurement or specification of a suitable printer.

Recommended label printers are the Zebra GK420T or TSC24 plus pro. The label
printer will be used to print bar-coded patient/file labels. If required, TriFour can
assist in the procurement or specification of these printers, as well as labels and
or label printer ribbons. Should other label printers be preferred, TriFour should
be consulted in this regard.

1.4.5 Scanners

Any flatbed scanner can be used. Any USB hand held bar code scanner can be
used.

For Document Image Scanning flatbed scanners with TWAIN Drivers needs to be
obtained

6
1.4.6 UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)

An UPS is essential not only to provide power in case of a power cut, but also to
stabilise the power supply to the server and to ensure that an orderly shutdown
can be performed in the case of a power failure. For best results, TriFour
recommends that the UPS also be connected to a generator as back-up for
emergency power supply for a 24 x 7 high availability option. TriFour can assist
to provide a UPS if required and recommend a 3 kVA UPS at no less than 30
minutes as a minimum.
1.5 NETWORK

1.5.1 LAN

No information is currently available from the hospital.

1.5.2 Internet Connectivity

A stable and reliable 24 x 7 Internet connection must be installed to allow access

by TriFour to remotely access TriMed for support purposes.

1.6 SERVER SOFTWARE

In terms of software, only software relevant to TriMed has been covered by this
study.

1.6.1 Operating System (Server)

Windows Server 2008 and latest service packs must be installed on the current
server. Windows Server 2012 is recommended.

1.6.2 Anti-Virus Software

The installation and regular updates of suitable anti-virus software on the Server
will be the responsibility of the Hospital. As it was found that not all anti-virus
software is compatible with Cache, TriFour should be consulted in this regard.
We recommend amongst others the following (in no particular order):
Sophos
Norton
Avast

7
1.7 WORKSTATION SOFTWARE OTHER

1.7.1 MS Office

MS Office is only required by TriMed if data extraction is to be done, that is likely

on a limited number of workstations, if not on the systems administrators
workstation only. We support installation of this on all workstations

1.7.2 Adobe Reader

Adobe Reader should be installed on all computers. Adobe Reader (latest

version) must be installed as TriFour documentation will be released in Adobe
Reader format (no cost).

1.8 TRAINING FACILITIES

Hospital will be responsible for the provision of training facilities. The following
items are required for a training room:

Current server will be used

6 PCs would be required so that there are no more than 2 persons per PC
Switch/hub and fly-leads to create a network for these PCs if not connected to
the server or LAN
The venue with a white board/flip chart
A data projector for the training sessions
