MGRP: Original Poem

Directions: Ponder a single idea related to your topic. The purpose of your poem is to praise
your subject, so the specific topic as well as the tone should reflect your admiration. You may
want to consider creating a poem that expresses the gift behind your subjects talent.
(Examples: A poem about B. B. Kings guitar; a poem about Ronald Reagans ranch; a poem
about Judy Garlands voice.)

Your poem must be no less than 16 lines and no more than 20. In addition, your poem
must include a minimum of five poetic devices (alliteration, rhyme, couplet, rhythm,
enjambment, hyperbole, understatement, imagery, synesthesia, personification, simile,
metaphor, onomatopoeia, symbolism, or synecdoche).

Identification and explanation of each device must follow your poem.

Walt Disneys Cartoons

With one pencil he creates a new person

With a group he creates a world
With a company he creates a franchise

Ruling as a dictator he cranks out cartoons people love

Disney spreads across America with the cartoons he makes
Disney makes more enemies as he creates

His pencil is his tool to create them

His people are his supporters to help make them
Together they immortalize themselves with every cartoon made

His cartoons get engraved in American Culture by none other

His cartoons are like a memory of a golden age.
His cartoons are his life, he cant live without them

His cartoons continue to influence

His company will never ruin
The company continues to live with a mind of his own
His Entertainment enters every TV
Poetry Technique Explanation

Type your explanation of what literary techniques you used in your poem and why.
I used Alliteration because the last line had three repeating E words.
I used Simile because on the 4th stanza on the second line I used like or as to compare two
unlike things
I used hyperbole because on the 4th Stanza last line because on the last line I said how Walt
Disney couldnt live without his cartoons when really Walt Disney would have still lived.
I used metaphor on the 4th stanza last line because I compared Walt Disneys cartoons to his
life.
I used personification on the final stanza 3rd line because it made the reader think that the
company has a mind of its own when really the company doesnt
