The switch from higher timing quality to lower timing quality is accepted immediately.
The switch back from lower timing quality to higher timing quality is only accepted
after expiry of the time set in the Wait to Restore Time field. This applies to the
modes Forced and Auto.

6.4.1 T0 Configuration
Menu Item SEC-T0 Config
In the Timing Source in Use for T0 field, the current T0 timing source is displayed.
In the Requested Timing Source for T0 field, the T0 clock pulse can permanently be
derived from one of the T3 clock pulses (external) or T1/T2 clock pulses (from a
traffic signal) or the best qualitative timing sources can automatically be selected by
the SN64 module (auto Revertive) or configured without reference timing (free
Running). Only the T1-/T2-/T3 clock pulses, which have a priority are displayed in
the context menu.
In the Minimum Quality Level for T0 field, the minimum quality of the T0 clock pulse,
which is required, (Timing Marker) is selected. This selection results in a T0 quality
alarm if the received quality is lower than this minimum value in the case of
"autorevertive mode". The Timing Marker, which has been set as a HEX value is
displayed in front of the context menu field.

6.4.2 T4 Configuration
Menu Item SEC-T4 Config
First of all, it has to be selected if the T3/T4 mode is 2 MHz or 2 Mbit/s. This should
have been done at the commissioning stage.
In the Timing Source in Use for T4 field, the current T4 timing source is displayed.
The Requested Timing Source for T4 sets whether the T4 clock pulse synchronizes
either to the T0 clock pulse, permanently (Forced) to a T1/T2 clock pulse,
automatically (auto Revertive) to a timing source or the T4 clock pulse is
disconnected (off).
Only the T1/T2 clock pulses, which have a priority, are displayed in the context menu.
In the Minimum Quality Level for T4 field, the minimum quality of the T4 clock pulse
(Timing Marker) is selected. This selection results in a squelch of T4 if the received
quality is lower than this minimum value in a case of "autorevertive mode". The
Timing Marker, which has been set as a HEX value is displayed in front of the context
menu field.

6.4.4 T3 Configuration
Menu Item SEC-T3 Config
First of all, it has to be selected if the T3/T4 mode is 2 MHz or 2 Mbit/s. This should
have been done at the commissioning stage.
If the T3/T4 mode is 2 MHz, then in the "T3 SSMs" field, the quality of the T3 clock
pulses have to be specified by selecting a Timing Marker. This is necessary because
T3 (e.g. from the normal frequency equipment SSU 2001) as 2,048 MHz normal
timing does not contain its own SSM. The Timing Marker, which has been set as a
HEX value is displayed in front of the context menu field.
TIP
If the T3/T4 mode is 2 Mbit/s, then the T3 coming from the CLA already contains a
quality level indication (DC offset). In this case SSMs are not configurable.

The SMA series 4 offers a number of Overhead Functions, making use of the
additional transmission capacities in the SDH Section Overhead for speech and data
communication.
For a number of those features, e.g. the engineering orderwire, the customer
interface, the V.11 and G.703 interfaces it is necessary to configure a number of
different settings.
TIP
The functions of the OHA card are treated in more detail in the chapter "Hardware".

One requirement for using the two serial 64-kbit/s channels, which are available for
telemetry purposes, is the corresponding configuration of two hardware switches on
the TIF module. (As the G.703 channels and the customer alarm channels are
transmitted parallel, if G.703 is used, the switch must be in the OFF position,
otherwise G703 transmission is disturbed.)

By clicking on the G703 symbol with the RMB, a pop-up menu appears to enable
the TIF module. If the TIF module has been enabled, display (Fault) or configuring

Clicking on the TIF symbol with the RMB and selecting "Configuration...", opens the
window to configure the switching channels. You can configure two groups of 8
output (Actors) and 8 input ports (Sensors), each according to your own requirements
for telemetry tasks. Depending on which channel in the TIF module has been
enabled, line 1 to 8 (TIF#1) or line 9 to 16 (TIF#2) are configured.
In the Actors field, outgoing Custom Control Signals can be activated and their
polarity selected. In the adjacent Sensors field the correct polarity must be set if the
alarm is to be active.

The three-digit telephone number is set in the OH-IF window (see chapter
"Configuration of TIF"). As the numbers x00, xy0 and xyz are used for collective
calling, they cannot be used as selective phone numbers. Generally, the use of 0 is
forbidden for selective numbers.
To place a call, you simply dial the three-digit number of the subscriber you want to
contact, or use 0 as a "wildcard"; that is, any subscriber with numbers 1 to 9 in that
place are called. A collective call e.g. is made by dialing "000".
An existing conference can be joined by pressing the "#" button.

Consider Fig. 130. What you have to tell IP/OSI gateway 3 in this situation is
1. Your ethernet-side IP address is 132.29.5.7, subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
Your OSI-side (PseudoNIF) IP address is 192.168.2.44, subnet mask
255.255.255.0 (the pseudo IP subnet must be in the private address range)
2. A table that assigns the OSI-side IP addresses of IP/OSI gateways 1 and 2 to
