2017 Contest Rules

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Metzger Wickershams Road to Safety Scholarship Contest is open to graduating, college-bound high school
seniors in Pennsylvania.

RULES
Seniors may enter the contest by submitting a creative project that highlights the dangers of distracted
driving and/or drunk driving. All projects must be submitted with a completed Entry Form.
Entries may include posters, paintings, drawings, t-shirts, digital illustrations, public service
announcements, videos, recorded songs, brochures, infographics and more. The more creative the better!
All projects must be the original work of the entrant.
Any pieces of writing should be 1,500 words or less. Please type submissions. If emailing any piece of
writing, please submit a PDF or Word Document file.
Videos and songs should be no longer than four (4) minutes. If emailing audio or video file, please submit
in .mp3, .mov, or .wmv format. You may also submit via file sharing service (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
Any artwork submissions must be easily transportable. If emailing artwork, please submit JPEG or PDF.
Students may submit no more than one (1) entry.
All submitted entries become property of Metzger Wickersham. Projects will not be returned to any
entrant. Upon submission of a project, entrants acknowledge that Metzger Wickersham will have all rights
to use, reproduce, publish, display, distribute or promote the entry as deemed necessary.

HOW TO ENTER
Entries may be submitted via email, US mail, or dropped off in person at our Harrisburg office. See entry form or
visit arrivealivepa.com for details.

DEADLINE
The deadline for all entries is Friday, May 5, 2017. Winners will be notified approximately 2-4 weeks after the
contest closes.

SELECTION OF WINNERS
Entries will be judged on the following criteria: 1) Does the project effectively convey the theme of the contest?
2) How creatively does the project deliver the message? 3) Does the project motivate teens to be more safety-
conscious behind the wheel?

PRIZES
First place: $1,000 / Second place: $750 / Third place: $500

The amount of first, second and third place scholarship prizes awarded will be dependent upon the number of
total entries received. Awards will be paid in one installment. Checks will be made out to the student. Winners will
be asked to submit a photograph of themselves for use in contest promotional materials. Each winner is required
to consent to the use of their likeness, name, area of residence, school name, prize amount and other contest
information without limitation or further payment.

The main concept behind the design is to show how valuable each life is. Drunk
and distracted driving happens when there is an overconfidence in an unlikely chance of accidents
happening. So my message is: EVERY LIFE IS IRREPLACEABLE, BUT NONE ARE INVINCIBLE. Its

better to be safe than sorry. I chose to create a phone case to act as a reminder against distracted
driving, specifically texting while driving. Hopefully a phone case that promotes safe driving will prevent

teens from using their phone at the wheel. Like a phone protects a case - having a designated driver or
storing your phone away - protects a life. If we can protect tangible items, we can also take steps towards
