STEP 1: Moodle Orientation
1. The Moodle website is THE classroom website for the school year. This
will be one of your most important resources in being successful in this
class. Homework updates, copies of class notes, extra resources, and
weather updates can all be found on this website.
2. Log in to Moodle by using the following web address:
https://moodlev2.mtwp.net/ BE CAREFUL this is NOT the version of
Moodle linked from the MTMS website, this is the newer version of
Moodle and you must type in the web address! When you get home or
on your personal device, bookmark this link!
3. Under Middle School, find 8th Grade Chargers Science with Mrs.
Swavely and click the link.
4. After clicking the link, you will be shown a login screen. Log in using
your MTWP name REMEMBER: your MTWP login name is (your
graduation year)(6 digits of your last name)(2 digits of your first
name ex: 2021SwavelBr and password is your ID Number. Parents
can login to this website by clicking on Login as Guest and using the
password: science.
5. If a button appears that says Enroll, click it and continue on.
6. Once you log in to the Moodle answer the following questions:
a. There is a photo on the main page of Mrs. Swavelys class.

b. Click on the link that says WEEKLY AGENDA AND HOMEWORK
UPDATES. This is the link you will use to catch up on what we did
in class, what was collected that day, and what the homework for
each night was. Use this link, find the slide with this week and
write down your homework for today. Also, write the Secret
Phrase:

7. Go back to the Moodle main page. Look for the link that says DAILY
WEATHER UPDATES. This is where you will find photos of the daily
weather board. If you are absent, you forget to write down the
weather, or lose your data sheet you can find the daily information
here. Get out your weather data collection sheet and write down the
weather for today it will not be posted anywhere today.
 STEP 2: TEXTBOOK ORIENTATION
1. Online text http://connected.mcgraw-hill.com
2. Your Username is: s2021(6 digits of your last name)(2 digits of your first name)
Example: s2021HARDWIMI
3. Your Password is: Use your student ID preceded by a lower case s
Example: s1009999 (must be lowercase)
4. A screen may appear that says Add this book, click on it.
5. Enter Redemption Code: N8WT-O9ZK-SSQO (THE LAST LETTER IS
NOT THE NUMBER ZERO!)
To open the book, click on the green button in the right corner of the page
that says eBook
Click on the table of contents.

5. At the tool bar in the top right there is an icon of one sheet of paper
and another one that has two pieces of paper. What does this do?

6. The next set of tools are to zoom. Nothing major, just check to see that
yours work! Do they? ___________
7. The little yellow sticky note looking icon is just that, an electronic sticky
note. Click on the yellow icon, leave a note to yourself somewhere on
the page. What does your note say and what page is it on?

8. The highlighters are the last icon and allow you to highlight certain
parts of the text in three different colors. Try it out.
9. Go to page 534 (either type it in or click the arrows). On the top of the
page there is a box that says Assessment. Along the bottom of the
screen you will see an icon that says check (looks like a check mark).
Click on it and take the quiz, attach it to this paper. Accuracy is not a
concern, just prove that you know how to do it.
10. On page 529, click the watch button (blue box with a triangle). A
few videos will appear. Choose one and watch it all the way through.

STEP 3: MS-Storage
1. If you used themclean out your folders from last year by saving
these files to a USB drive or creating a folder for 7 th Grade.
