A month of multiple blessings and rewards,

Muslims all over the world eagerly welcome the
blessed month of Ramadan with hope and
determination. Striving to seek salvation from the
hellre on the Day of Judgement, they engage in
avenues of sincere fasting, increased Ibaadaah
(worship) and Dhikr (remembrance), reciting the

The month also sees a substantial amount of
focus laid upon the meal times which encase the
day of fasting, in the form of the Suhoor
(pre-dawn meal) and the Iftar (sunset meal).
"He who provides a fasting person something

with which to break his fast will earn the same
reward as the one observing the fast, without
diminishing in any way the reward of the latter"

The importance of the meals is irrefutable.

However Ramadan is not a food festival and
eorts should be prioritised towards fullling
ones spiritual stomach rather than the physical
one. As such, here are a few tips to help induce a
more productive and healthier month of Ramadan
InshaAllah:

1 It is very common for people to overspend and buy needlessly
when browsing through supermarkets, particularly when
hungry. By making up a meal plan for your family before going

Sucient for any son of Adam are some morsels to keep his
back straight. But if it must be, then one third for his food, one
third for his drink and one third for his breath" (At-Tirmidhi).

By doing this, the temptation to overindulge to immediately
compensate your hunger is minimised. Once the fast is broken
with dates and water, we should rst aim to pray Maghrib and

starts, and freeze it. This allows you to save valuable time as
well as ensuring that you are not indulging in fast food options
when you are not in the mood to cook. Additionally if waking

No doubt, with growing days and more demanding work schedules, it can be very easy to get carried away with the
physical aspects that may occur. However, our life in this world is only momentary whereas our deeds have eternal
consequences. Therefore we should try to endeavour to engage our inner willpower not only for the month of fasting,
but also beyond.

opportunity to charitable organisations to engage
directly with their donors and showcase the activities
