 ALT key is very useful in Windows and one of the unknown uses is
to insert symbols and special characters in Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint. The shortcuts mentioned in the below table are checked
with Word 2010 on Windows 7 platform. Hence, some of them may not
work on Excel and PowerPoint, in such scenarios just copy and paste it
on your document.

Make sure the below mentioned points are taken care when you
use the ALT codes:

Press and Hold any of the ALT key and then press the numbers
one by one.
Make sure Numeric lock is switched on.
Shortcut keys in the format (ALT + numbers) will only work with
the keyboards as shown in the below keyboard picture.
It may not work with other numeric keys.
