A1.
I have been assigned cabin engineering under the
research and development department. The project
assigned to me is to run HVAC systems in trucks
through renewable resources of energy and hence
improve fuel efficiency by removing dependency on
engine alternator. The first goal is to identify efficient
renewable sources which could be used to run HVAC
systems. Since solar energy is the most abundant
and powerful resource, my goal is to measure the
output generated by installing solar panels on trucks.
I have to measure the current generated at different
intervals of day and find the suitable period during
which solar power can be utilized according to the
need. The data about the output of the air
conditioning unit is also to be measured to find that
to what extent the extracted solar power is useful.
Using this data, the analysis has to be done
regarding how much power is needed for the HVAC
unit and how much is being produced at different
intervals of the day through solar power and is the
solar energy self-sufficient to run the HVAC unit etc.
A2.
Once the analysis has been done, I have to calculate
how much more power is needed to run the unit
efficiently. I have to find modifications in the solar
installation systems to optimize the output. Further I
will have to identify more sources for collaborating
with solar energy to increase the power output and
meet to the needs of running the HVAC unit. The trial
will be done for these new sources and the output
power will measured. The method for installing all
the resources in synergy will have to be developed so
that the whole output is available to the HVAC unit as
a single source. The installations will be remodified
and improved until the required power is generated
efficiently. The trials will be taken of the total power
being provided to the HVAC unit. The equipment for
storing the energy and discharging it as efficiently as
possible will have to be found. The goal will be to
harness more energy than that being utilized so that
the excess energy can be utilized later. It will have to
be ensured that the excess energy being produced is
stored efficiently so that the system can run without
using engine power even when the alternative
sources are not working during any time of the day.
A3.
After achieving the required power generation and
storage, the goal will be to make the whole set up
ready according to the commercial point of view. The
mounting of the installations will have to be
considered so that they do not hinder the look,
aerodynamics and performance of the truck. Various
modifications will have to be introduced to increase
further efficiency by finding further methods to
decrease work load and needed power input.
Ergonomics will be considered to provide full comfort
to the passengers. Various methods for reducing the
cost of the set up will be considered. Trials will have
to be taken with the final assembled unit. Finally the
commercialization of the produced set up will have to
be achieved.
