Litigation - process of taking legal action
Rescind - revoking a law, order, or agreement
Immigration - the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country

Summary of the Event (at least 3 major points; each point will have its own
paragraph)
President Trump announced that he will be creating a new executive order for a
new travel ban. His previous travel ban had been halted by US District Court Judge
James Robart, and now Trump is now creating an order that will tailor to the federal
court. Trump stated that the tailoring is what (He) consider(s) to be a bad decision.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the judges that blocked his first ban, were
told by the Justice Department that they would not need a larger group of judges. They
wouldnt need them because they failed their emergency challenge to lower the courts
temporary decision, and this Trump is creating a completely new order. Questions for
the Trump Administration rose as the Ninth Circuit refused to lift a federal judges
temporary ban on the order. The order stated that they will not allow people from Iran,
Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen to enter the country for 90 days, all
refugees for 120 days, and all refugees from Syria indefinitely.
An unknown judge from Ninth Circuit requested that the court vote whether to
rehear the decisions made. Requests like this are not uncommon, but during the time of
the call, the Justice Department was giving their position on continuing with the appeal
was undisclosed. Washington and Minnesota, the states that originally brought up the
lawsuit, stated that there is no basis on rehearing the case. They also said that their
judges are very grounded with their decision. As the nation waits for Trumps new order,
at least one federal court is falling ahead on litigation for the original order.
Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).
The previous ban on some Islamic states has already created an uprising.
Trump trying to create another order that will tailor to the federal court will only make
things worse. The first ban created a lot of tension and protests happened all around the
country, and this second order will only add more fuel to the fire. Maybe the protests
around the country will proliferate, and this upcoming order will not be approved.

Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current event).
During the early 1900s, many people in the Western regions of the US were
against Japanese immigrants. Japan tried to defuse the situation through diplomacy, but
stopped once the U.S. Congress passed the Immigration Act in 1924. With Trumps
previous travel ban, he cut off seven countries from traveling to the U.S.. America
banned the Japanese due to the wars going on during that time, Trump banned Islamic
states due to a terrorist act that occurred 15 years ago.

The previous ban created a lot of conflict, and if this next one is approved, there
will be even more conflict. The whole idea of banning countries from entering our
country is ridiculous, especially if its due to their religion, that shouldnt be connected to
terrorism. A lot of terrorist attacks in America are done by people from America, that
have no connection to Islam. Islam should not define terrorism, and Trump should have
banned people from countries tied to 9/11, rather than the ones that had no connection.

Questions You Have About the Event (4).

1) Why is terrorism still connected Islam?
2) Why did Trump ban countries that had no relation to 9/11?
3) Will more protests occur if this order is passed?
4) How will this ban affect the people from these countries?
