Good morning, and the honorable all of the judges.

I am desi permata sari, And I am as the chemical engineering college student. I

will become the next engineer. As you know that, engineering faculty is a place
where we can deepen our knowledge, applying to create tools and ideas that can
simplify and accelerate the work of human. In other words, the technique was
associated with daily work. In the campus daily, we do not just learn about theory
but Sometime we learn about the practical. But the think that I would like talk to
you that is about practical. The practical work that we did in the laboratory. Why
that special? when we did the practical in the laboratory, sometime we did it with
the equipment but sometime unexpectedly we just take the data from the guidance
book. So, what is the correlation with my theme? the role of an engineer in the era
of MEAS competition.

Now days, when I ask my friends 1-10 percent, Indonesia, do you think we are
still ready for MEAS competition ?, most of them will answer if they are not
ready, just 1 or 2 person that say yes, we are ready. But actually, I personality
will say that I am ready for MEAS competition. Even though 5 or 10 years later
when we say that we are ready, we will ready. but if we say that we are not ready
of course we will not ready for it. It just about the personality. The not think that
we will failed in MEAs competition. It will better if we get learn than we get
failed in it.

As my opening that I say, because my major is chemical engineering, I will

become the next engineer. When we talk about MEAs competition, there are
some subject that will be concern by the government, namely are, engineers,
architects, tourism workers, accountants, dentists, medical practitioners, and
nurses. So I will be involved in that policy. And what should I do? In order I able
to compete in this era, I have to improve the quality of myself. But as you know
that, the phenomenal in Indonesia right now is we do not have a good quality of
engineering. I do not think about the others university. Even though right now, in
my laboratory when I got practical work I just take the data from the journal or the
guidance book. Its not good idea, because when we get a practical we have to
hold the real equipment. So if we just take the data and we do not operate the real
it just nonsense, and I just learn about the data. If the system is like that I can learn
by myself, I can read the data or the journal.

So Ladies and gentlemen, its mean that that the education system itself must be
clear. The best engineer, will be obtain when the education system is good and the
practical work also good. I do not want to judge the university, I do not want to
judge the people, but I just want to think that the system itself will be better, I get
practical work in the laboratory and the field with the real equipment not only
learn about the theory. So what is the impact if an engineer just learn about the
theory and just take the data when getting practical work? Of course we will just
become the datas engineer not the real engineer. But in MEAs competition is we
have to be able to get practical work even though it is in the laboratory or in the
field. Thats what the thing that I offer.
In short, the the best engineer will be get tern by change the education system by
providing the the personality, mastering foreign language especially english in
order we can improve the quality of ourself because most of my friend they are
not master in english and we must have good public speaking, good attitude also
professionalism. So here I take a part to contribute based on my subject and
become part of the agent of change.
