Key Vocabulary from the Article (Define at least 4).

o Diplomatic- of or concerning the profession, activity, or skill of managing

international relations.

o Regime- a government, especially an authoritarian one.

o Tyranny- cruel and oppressive government or rule.

o Relations- the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are

connected; a thing's effect on or relevance to another.

Summary of the Event (at least 3 major points; each point will have its own paragraph)

A. The Obama administration has established diplomatic relations with Cuban government.

In the Obama administration doing this it makes it easier for Americans to do business

and travel with Cuba. January 12, 2016 the Obama administration said it was going to

end the wet foot, dry foot the policy that's granted permanent resident status to any

Cuban who makes it on U.S soil. The Obama administration implemented Presidential

Policy Directive 43, which allows the Department of Defense to broaden its relationship

with Havana.

B. Cubans are not happy with these major changes that have been occurring since Castro

died. Cuba has the highest per-capita rates of suicide, abortion, and refugees in the

Western Hemisphere. Cuba has the oldest population in Latin America. Even with the

U.S help there is still no human-rights nor political freedom, Cuba is tied down like a

dog. Many Cubans are not letting this get to them. Cubans and Cuban Americans are

supporting the resistance for direct civic action. As well as protesting to get what the

Cuban people want.

C. A majority of Cuban Americans are hoping the President Trump will be a stronger
advocate for human rights than Barack Obama was. Trump promised to stand with the

stand with the Cuban people in their fight against Communist oppression and judged

the concessions that Barack Obama made to the Castros. Trump going as far as saying

he will secure a better deal between the two countries. Trump has not made clear

(should make clear) that he will establish diplomatic relations with the Cuban

government unless Cuba makes progress to end political repression, opens its markets,

protects freedom of religion, and releases all political prisoners.

Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).

I believe that it is great that we have established foreign relations again with

Cuba. What everybody is happy about right now is the import of the world's finest cigars

and rum, that is biggest import we are trading with Cuba at the moment. Besides all that I

hope the U.S will have Cuba as a very good friendship in the future and the U.S helping

Cuba to be caught with the rest of the world. I hope to see this bondage with in the next

decade or so.
Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current event).

My current event relates with the Cuban-Spanish-American War which occurred in 1898. My

comparisons of both the events are the U.S got involved with Cuba and the Cubans try to throw

the Spanish out of the country just like what Cubans are trying to do now with Fidels brother.

The contrast is the U.S is not at war with Spain and Cuba was not in a dictatorship during the

time.

Relate your Event to the a subtheme (at least 3 sentences).

The sub theme that relates with this topic is politics. The U.S is trying to solve the

political oppressions and human-rights violation that is going in Cuba. Fidel Castro who

is now deceased never did anything to fix the political oppressions and human-right

violation, now is brother who is incharge never showed any kind of sympathy political

oppressions and human-right violation.

Questions You Have About the Event (4).

What made us ban Cuba from trading with us?

When is Donald Trump going to acknowledge Cuba? He said he was going stand with

the Cubans to end communist oppression.

How did Cuba become a communist country in the first place?

How did Fidel Castro become dictator of Cuba?
