countries, it is slowly increasing, not allowing a great amount of children to fulfill what they

want to do when they are older.

The article Class Matters shows an event that had happened, where the author, Barbara

Ehrenreich, had went into a part of her town that was not as wealthy as others. She had learned

that although some do not think about it in their daily lives, there are a lot of men, women, and

children that are not able to have the same opportunities as others because of their low pay job,

trying to survive, and some even raising a family. Others that have more of an opportunity look

down on the people that arent as wealthy as them, while the poor cannot do anything about it.

The Changing Association Among Marriage, Work, and Child Poverty in the United States,

19742010 by Regina S. Baker shows many statistics, like graphs and tables, over how children

that are in families that arent as wealthy as others do not have some opportunities that other

children in wealthier families might have. It also shows that some the decline of children in

poverty with parents has lead to instances of kids not being able to fulfill their ideas because of
the lack of another parent, and what they bring to the family. The article shows that with only

one or maybe no parents, a good amount of children are not able to become what they want to

become.

The article Breaking a Mindset of Scarcity by Kate Griffin, Carrie Finkbiner, and Emily

Campbell shows how the brain works, starting off by making sure that the heart and other main

organs work, and then gets into things that are more sophisticated, like considering different ideas

and what to choose. It also shows that once we are able to understand certain concepts like

considering, our mind starts to wonder, especially as children. When children are in an

environment where they are not able to explore as much because they know that their parents do

not make as much as others, a childs mind will start thinking scarcely, and will not have the

chance to explore as others can.

(2016): 36-40. Academic Search Complete. Web. 9 Dec. 2016.

The article Students Facing Poverty: The New Majority by Steve Suitts shows that for the first

time in history, the majority of children for kindergarten to twelfth grade are coming are in a

state of poverty, or come from a low-income family. This article also gives ideas to help with

low-income families, and give their children the same chance as others. Although it can be

costly, helping with schools and their education opportunities can increase the corrections of
students by 100 percent. The community would have to give up some of their time to help with

this, but it would really help with children that do not have the money that other families do.

Small Progress on U.S. Poverty by Kevin Clark clearly states that there has not been a huge

improvement since the Great Recession, and that although the percentage of people in poverty is

going down, it is not going down at a rapid rate. The amount of people in poverty is two percent

higher today than it was during the Great Recession in 2007. Americans are asking for help, and

yet the rate of people that are in poverty is stagnant. This is a very huge problem, and this

problem needs to change fairly quickly.

the percentage is going up fairly quickly. About fifteen percent of the United States lives in

poverty. This article also gives visuals like graphs and tables to compare rates of poverty in

certain countries to others.
