Carla will walk us through the Tech 101 course 130
that our incoming freshmen completed this
summer using Schoology. This session will be
particularly helpful for freshmen teachers, as you
will learn what freshmen can be expected to
already know.

Inquiry-based teaching is a pedagogical approach
that encourages students to explore academic
content by posing, investigating, and answering
questions. This approach puts students questions
at the center of the curriculum, and places value
on their critical-thinking skills. Research supports
the effectiveness of this teaching method to foster
learning at the conceptual level and increase
student engagement . In this session, you will
learn about the fundamentals of inquiry and ways
to successfully implement it in the classroom.

questions in class? How do we respond to the hot B on Friday
topics of today? What does the Church really have to
say about the election, environment, immigration, war
and abortion?

Colleagues from the Religious Studies department will


present the basic tenets of Catholic Social Teaching, and
show how these principles can be used in all academic
disciplines to respond to current social issues. They will
also provide ideas for online resources helpful for
answering those tough questions.

Come and learn about Breakout EDU, which H (12:20-1:10)
is a way to increase critical thinking skills,
focus on teamwork, and incorporate as
much or as little technology as a teacher is
comfortable with. In the beginning of each
session, the faculty will have the chance as
a group to Break out of the box for their
session. If they are successful, theyll win
whatevers inside. After the demonstration,
well talk about how others have used
Breakout EDU, where it might fit in your
classroom, and take other general questions
about technology integration in the
classroom.

Participants of this session are invited to read (K day) H (1:15)
Humans Are Underrated by Geoff Colvin, but it is After school
not a pre-requisite for attending the session. The
hoped-for takeaway is a discussion on our efforts
to incorporate technology without losing cura

IPPrezi: Enhancing Content with Prezis Mike McKeon New date F (10:55-11:45) Snite
This session will explore ways to enhance April 10 (K) E (12:20-1:10)
classroom presentations through using Prezis H (1:15-2:05)
intentionally. We will cover some basics of Prezi
while diving deeper to understand how Prezis can
be used to communicate context and content.

Interactive Tools to Engage Students Library dept April 25 (F I (10:00 am) Rm 130
Join us as we share some ideas/interactive tools day) E (10:55 am)
for keeping students engaged in the classroom H (2:10 pm)
especially as we head into the month of May! A
Jeopardy game or or an interactive map may be
just the thing to help students with final exam
reviews.

A Conversation with our Diversity Kitty Hooper May 4 G (10:55 am) Snite
Coordinator! B (2:10 pm)
Kitty Hooper will present on some of the After school
challenges, hopes, and ideas discussed at
the JSN Conference. She will facilitate a
collaborative conversation about current and
future diversity programming.
