METHOD STATEMENT FOR DUCT SEALING WORK

Water proofing (outside the sub station).

Materials: 1 .Polyurethane expanding foam
2 .Dyrneric 240 Sealant.
3. TP 60 water proofing paint (-r0tWf 'fV'O -I fiJ C 131p. J.t. (()1 0"')
Procedure:

1. Excavate the area manually to locate the cables.

2. Clean the duct mouth & ensure it is free from dust, oil etc
3. Before injecting the polyurethane foam, the cable should be kept in the middle of
ducts, so that the foam can be injected around the cable,
4. Inject the foam 13 em inside from the duct-mouth & make sure all cavities are
filled. Allow foam to expand and do not overfill.
5. Leave the newly injected foam for curing - at least 8 hours.
6. The ExpandedlExcess foam should be cut with a sharp knife & cut 5em inside
from duct mouth to fill material n6.2.
7. Mixing ofDymeric sealant (three part) should be done according to the product
literature.
8. While filling the dymeric sealant, care should be taken to make a tapering from
duct mouth to cable as shown in the drawing. .
9. Tooling is necessary to ensure firm, full contact with inner faces of ducts.
10. Leave the surface for setting as per the product literature.
Apply the water proofing paint _TP 60 after making sure the surfaces have a steel
trowel finish which is -dry & free from dust, other contaminants. A!?plication area is
to be extended 15crn on cable & 15 ern on ducts from the tapered surface.
