How does it work?
Red Hat Command Center offers monitoring software
as a service, hosted by Red Hat. The product is
simple to set up and use. To get started:
1. Deploy a local monitoring appliance called a scout.
2. Use a web browser to log into the Command Center web portal.
3. Set up probes and alerts for your environment using
network auto-discovery and point-and-click configuration.
4. Within a day, begin monitoring dozens of systems.
The scout runs a variety of probes against your monitored
hosts, using common application protocols such as SNMP

or HTTP to gather monitoring data. This
data is then sent to the Command Center
backend over a secure connection. The
scout is essentially a go-between, used
to collect the monitoring information.
The backend handles alert notifications
and provides monitoring status and
reports through the web portal.
This simple, highly scalable architecture
allows you to deploy the solution
quickly, consolidate monitoring of
multiple networks, and transparently
receive bug fixes and new features.
