Synopsis: During the time of the Rwandan Genocide, Paul
Rusesaagina the manager of Hotel is put in a very hard
place. Paul is a Hutu but his wife is a Tutsi. This is a large 5 STARS problem for the family. His wife being a Tutsi is not the biggest issue. The biggest issue was he had to house thousands of Tutsi people. While housing all of the people, Paul learns many things about people. For example he learns that all of the white people besides one have no plan to help. This one member of the UN does all in his ability to save the Tutsi people inside the hotel. At the end, all of the people in the hotel get saved and brought to a camp where they are safe. All due to this UN officer acting differently and Paul being courageous and never giving up.
Review: I thought the movie was fantastic. It was one of the
best movies I have seen in awhile. It hits on some very good points. I love how it stresses on the point of differences. It is important that the movie truly hits strong on the point that even if you different, you should be treated equal. It also represents what happened during the Rwandan Genocide.
Connection: The movie Hotel Rwanda and the book Left to
Tell, both are about the Rwandan Genocide. In Left to Tell, it is an account of someone in hiding while also explaining what was going on. In Hotel Rwanda it is an account of a Hutu and white man saving the lives of Tutsi people. In both there is someone that is supposed to be against the Tutsi people. But they go against all odds and risk their lives to save everyone else.
