What is a Serotonin: (3)(1)

Serotonin is a biochemical regulator found in humans or a neurotransmitter, it is found primarily

in the central nervous system. Serotonin located in the nervous system as a local transmitter at

synapses, allowing a variety of behavioral responses to a different stimulus. Serotonin plays many

important physiological roles including cardiovascular integrity, neurotransmission, hemostasis, and

gastrointestinal motility.

Serotonin is found in our body, it located in our brain. The duty of serotonin is to send or

transmit the nerve signals through neurons. It could regulate our sleep, because it has a role in making

melatonin which is a hormone that regulate our sleep cycle. Not only regulating our sleep cycle, but

also set up our mood. Low amount of serotonin will cause a mood change. Serotonin also regulate our

body process, such as appetite control. The lower amount of serotonin the more you will get hungry.

Serotonin is like a unique biochemical which is found in our body. The solubility of serotonin is

slightly soluble with water. The melting point of serotonin is 121C and boiling point is 386C. Serotonin

sometimes used in drugs to help people with mental illnesses who lack this chemical.

Purpose of Serotonin: (3)

Serotonin is regarded by a researcher as a chemical that is responsible for maintaining mood

balance, and that a deficit of serotonin leads to depression. So, a drug that alter serotonin level will be

needed for those who has a depression, migraine, and nausea. Because it would help change their

mood, this is because the serotonin level in their body is likely to be low.
