Question: Climate change is the most important issue facing the world. Do you agree or disagree?

There are many conflicting standpoints on whether climate change is the most critical problem in

the world these days or not. Personally, I agree that the impacts of climate change greatly affect Earths

species and the Earth itself.

Climate change created many extreme effects on the environment and different kinds of species,

including humans. Human activities create greenhouse gases, which trap the heat in the atmosphere,

leading to global warming and the melting of ice caps. Due to this, the sea levels rise and submerge

coastal areas. Many families and individuals lose their houses, jobs and are forced to flee to another place.

The environment is also affected by droughts, which affects vegetation and wildlife. Many ponds used for

the breeding of ducks and other migratory birds could be dry up, which might decrease the birds

population (National Wildlife Federation, n.d.).

Some individuals think that climate change is not a very major dilemma. However, I believe that

their view are misguided and caused by a lack of knowledge. Some climate change detractors argue that

the changes are not big enough or fast enough to be paid attention to, but the consequences climate

change will create over the next century threaten to bring humanity closer to extinction. According to The

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, by 2100, the oceans will rise by 11 to 38 inches and will be

able to drown many of the cities along the U.S. East Coast (Nationalgeographic.com, n.d.). Rising sea

levels might also submerge every continent in the near future so sooner or later, human wont have any

place to live anymore.

In conclusion, climate change deserves the attention of the whole world because of its serious effects on

species and the environment. If more people gain essential knowledge and become more aware of this

problem, climate change will slow down and hopefully stop one day.
