Pastors Corner
Our family appreciated all the prayers from our congregation last weekend as we traveled to
western PA to remember Karen's mother. Everything worked out very well and we felt the
presence of the Lord in the service honoring her mother. We worshiped in a United
Methodist Church in downtown Pittsburgh on Sunday, and I brought greetings from our
church to the pastor of Calvary UMC. I was delighted to hear great things about the creative
message which Erica Dorsch brought to our congregation in my absence. Thanks, Erica,
and thanks also to the people who assisted you in worship.
This Sunday, my sermon will continue my three part mini-series on what it means to live as
"Easter People." We will look at a great story from the book of Acts which demonstrates the "Holy Boldness"
exhibited by the disciples after experiencing the resurrection of Jesus.
Next week, we will have not one, not two, but three opportunities to enjoy fellowship, learning, and worship
with our brothers and sisters in the Mission Connexion of which we are a part with eight other churches. The
first opportunity is with the C.S. Lewis Book Club. Here is what the Rev. Paul Crikelair recently wrote: "Join
us for dinner or lunch to discuss the second book in C.S. Lewiss popular Chronicles of Narnia series: The
Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Offering both daytime and evening sessions, we will meet at 6:00
p.m.Monday, May 22, and also at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, May 23 both sessions will be at Bovinos Pizzeria,
331 N. Courtland St., East Stroudsburg, PA. Also, watch for details on upcoming Community Film Night as we
screen the recently-released film inspired by this wonderful novel."
The second opportunity is also organized by Paul. Normally, on the 24th of May each year, Paul travels to
each of our Mission Connexion churches and has prayer for an hour in each sanctuary, inviting people to join
him in praying for our communities and churches. May 24 marks the date when Methodist founder John
(Continued on page 2)

Wesley had his "heartwarming" experience of the presence of God. This
year, Paul is instead organizing a prayer walk in Stroudsburg on that
date, at two different times. The 2017 Aldersgate Day Stroudsburg
Prayer Walk will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Walkers will
join at 10:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m. at the Ann Street basement entrance to
Stroudsburg UMC. They will walk about fifteen blocks or 1.5 miles, down
Main Street to Wawa, and back again by way of the County Courthouse,
stopping on the sidewalk at various points to pray for specific needs and
groups of people. No need to sign up; just show up!
The third event is the Love Feast to take place on Thursday, May 25 at
7:00 p.m., at Faith UMC on Clause Dr. in Stroudsburg. This was
supposed to have happened during Lent in mid-March, but you might Bloom Where Youre Planted
